Still buying one to replace my Nexus 6P ASAP
Absolutely stupid, first they kill Nexus, then replace it with an iPhone clone, then they jack the price up even more. Looks like I'm going elsewhere for my phones in the future, shame since the 6P was such a good phone.
Goddamn, we need a market crash on high end smartphones. Paying even 700 dollars for a phone is ludicrous and useless imo. Theres cheaper and good enough phones for less.
I'd sooner buy an LG V30 at this rate than the pixel 2 xl. Raising the price by $100 is just insane, apple didn't even Jack their price up that high for the 8+ :why:
For a period of time it felt like flagship phone prices are going down, now this year everything's shooting sky high, what the hell.
For a period of time it felt like flagship phone prices are going down, now this year everything's shooting sky high, what the hell.
Id say its because Apple and Samsung keep pricing higher and higher, and because people keep buying it, no mattet what. And imo, smartphone design trends are getting a bit obnoxious, in the case that people will dismiss devices because they don't have the next generation fad like curved edges.
Wait, Pixel 2 won't have a headphone jack? Oh Lord.

It's got all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a flagship phone and set to be cheaper than this. Plus that quad DAC mmmmmm
Thanks for pointing me at the LG V30, now my BF might get one instead of a Pixel 2 or iPhone X.
After my Nexus 5X bricked itself I honestly can't see myself buying an LG phone again. That phone I had for less than a year and a half when it got stuck in an eternal boot loop. No troubleshooting fixed it. I'm happy with my Galaxy S8+
Samsung makes amazing hardware, but I just can't stand their Android changes, that's why the V30 is so good looking to me.
I actually find myself enjoying the UI design changes, it's a breath of fresh air and now that I've gotten used to it it's pretty sleek. I've uninstalled any bloat and installed default Google apps like their keyboard and etc. so it's working perfectly for me now.
Samsung makes amazing hardware, but I just can't stand their Android changes, that's why the V30 is so good looking to me.
The Samsung global models with their own exynos chips and are rootable seem to support all AT&T bands so that's worth considering. You don't have to deal with a lot of the crap of the US models.
Before everyone freaks out too badly, there's rumors that Google is internally re-discussing this price. Apparently they thought that the iPhone 8 would be far more expensive than it actually was. Wait for an official announcement instead of this leak. The XL2 not having a headphone jack is absolutely ridiculous. I'd get an LGV30 as soon as it came out if it supported Project Fi.
I won't buy any phone without stock or an unlocked bootloader with good dev support. Since I am on Verizon so my options are limited to pretty much the Essential and the Pixel 2
Samsung having terrible software is a meme, it really doesn't apply anymore. I have an S7 with Nougat and it's buttery and really neatly tucks away gimmicky features (some of which I use.) the samsung launcher is straight garbage though, nova prime 4 lyfe
I went from a S3, hating it because of Shitwiz, to a Moto X 2 for the stock experience and now I've gone back to an S8 and to be honest I'm loving it, you can tone down the samsungness fairly well on it as I've got the Google Now Launcher anyways and don't go near most of the samsung stuff, and some of the extra samsung features are actually pretty useful like performance and detailed battery saver modes, so I'm enjoying it and don't really have a reason to root or swap ROMs as that was my constant nightmare on the S3.

The settings menu felt really cluttered compared to stock.

Plus it's got all the modern stuff like USB Type C, believe it or not in this day and age has a headphone jack, and is solid on battery management. My Nexus would need charged every night without fail even when I first got it, this one can go days without being charged and consistent use.
this is what happens when you are forced into a payment plan
Am I the only one here that hold on to their phones for like 3 years at the least? My galaxy s6 works just great right now. I dont see why people buy brand new flagship phones for 700-1000 bucks every year.

Damn thing bricked itself after a year and a few months.
I'm still on my iPhone 5S, but now it's really starting to show its age from getting pretty sluggish. Probably cause of updating to the latest iOS every year but also I fucking hate iOS, so with this and LG G7, I'm pretty raring to move on

I'm glad you seem to have good luck with lasting phones, but who cares if other people want or need to upgrade more frequently than you?

Im talking about people spenting almost a thousand every year just to use snapchat and facebook.

Oreo is a bit of a side-grade, especially with the full white utility bar (status drop-down, whatever Google calls it). I really can't stand the gradiented to hell glass blurry look that Samsung does.
A phone sold at a premium price without a headphone jack or wireless charging still. No idea what Google is doing, they're becoming worse than Apple at this point.

Yeah as a big hater of touchjizz, TouchWiz Grace has been pretty on point. I'm strongly considering getting a Samsung 8+ global.
