• Garrys Mod Instant Crash!

This crash is a little different than the usual ones; instead of an error message it instantly vanishes right before my eyes, leaving nothing but me and my desktop. I've tried delete All things Gmod and it still continues to haunt me. Most of the time, the game doesn't even slow down, it barely ever gives me a warning. My PC is fine quality and this has never happened before 1 and 1/2 weeks ago. The crashes ( orwhatever you call them) are become more frequent.
Well, posting some specs could be a start. Also, when does this happen? When you start the game, or during runtime? And is it at specific moments or "random"?
Absolutely random, though I have noted the instant crash happed maybe 5 or 6 times right after I join a server. SPECS!!! Windows XP: Service pack 3 Athlon X2 Dual Core 2.65, 3.09 gigs of RAM (I really have 4 gb of RAM but I can only see it on my bios) NVidia nForce 750a SLI
Try playing in windowed. I have to do it for some source games.
Try playing in windowed. I have to do it for some source games.
You know what the funny thing is? I already AM in windowed! ALSO: Sometimes when I've been disconnected from server (internet burp) the instant crash occurs.
Yesterday, Garrys Mod crashed here too. But, you were lucky in comparison... I got bluescreen, and when i turned the computer on, the HDD did not work. what the fuck.
Just purchased a new HDD @ 1TB, the old one was "way too dead" to be fixed. I'll backup my PC from now on.
Gewd for you! Now what about this random instant crash?
Would you mind telling us what kind of Video Card you have? 1 - Press: Start button + R 2 - Type: dxdiag 3 - Press enter. 4 - When it's loaded, go to display. 5 - Copy/Paste what it says besides "Name:".
You also wanna post your display/Video card model as well.
@OP Have you restarded since the crashes started? Sometimes after a while all Source games will just instantly crash on load and won't start working again until a restart. That's usually what fixes it for me. Also, since it hasn't been brought up yet, have you ensured that your drivers are up to date?
Uh, I already told you. Its the Nvidia nForce 750a SLI. I've noticed whenever I complain about problems people always ask about the video card?
That's the motherboard, not the graphics card... And the reason to why they ask that, is because a shitty GPU is the problem 90% of the cases. Edit: What's with the dumb? This is a Nvidia nForce 750a SLI: Does that look like a graphics card to you?
Okay, here's something that will help us help you: http://www.piriform.com/speccy Download that and run it and post a screencap of the either the summary screen or the graphics screen.
all of this happens to me. i posted up a fucking video, and nobody could fix it. this is crap.... if someone fixes it, add me on steam and msg me, im always on! EDIT: video card: Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset also, did this only JUST start happening to you? coz that is what happened. i used to play it, then i finished dling tf2, then it didnt work after.. EDIT 2: all credit goes to Apt 2B Try this Right click garrysmod in steam games list go to properties click set launch options type in box "-dxlevel 81" (no quotes) click ok try to launch if it launches u win [editline]08:09PM[/editline] ok wth now after i fix it, steam doesnt recognise that i own it, so i cant use multiplayer..
First of all, that isn't your graphics card. Second, do what I told the OP to do and we'll try to help you. Third, I highly doubt Steam would "forget" you owned a game, unless you pirated it.
