Is there any sci-fi movies/games that humans are the bad guys? Preferably the main character is a bad guy, and doesn't change sides.
killzone 2/3's got you covered

District 9, since the humans are keeping all of the aliens on Earth so they can study their technology/physiology.

It's actually a pretty grey area, on the one hand the humans do a lot of uncool stuff, but on the other hand an ENTIRE RACE of aliens just crash landed and set up shop, and thus need food, water, shelter etc. Also district 9 is pretty much a metaphor for refugees/third world country poverty anyhow. Grey Goo has a story where humans aren't really the bad guys, but they aren't exactly being extremely nice either. Starcraft, ESPECIALLY brood war has a huge theme of humans being utter pricks and ruining everything.

There's some really interesting and complicated issues and themes it tackles, but only in the background honestly. The focus is just on blowing shit up and being awesome, while the philosophical debate is very quiet and left to the viewer to interpret and come to their own conclusions on. Whether you think that's a good thing or not is up to you I suppose but I really think it's a clever film and I think that it definitely qualifies as a movie where the humans are the "bad guy", even if when you boil it down there's no right and wrong. Another scifi film with a kind of humans are bad theme is Elysium. I think a lot of people dislike it but I personally really enjoyed it, although comparing it to district 9 feels wrong since district 9 keeps it's philosophy quiet and understated while elysium shoves it in your face. I don't think it's the best movie I've ever watched but I enjoyed it a fair amount as a sort of scifi remake of Crank with additional political baggage.
Starship Troopers Avatar Total Recall E.T. As for vidjas Warhammer 40,000? Humans aren't the worst. But they're Xenophobic and Fanatical. Also a decent number of humans serve the Chaos Gods, so they're not good lol.
If you're gonna go down that road then the entire Alien franchise is a good one to hit up as well.
Star Trek: Insurrection? Every Mirror Universe episode of Star Trek where the Humans form the Terran Empire. A Mirror Darkly Star Trek Intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfbsZRbwbJ4 I love this intro because of the Juxtaposition when compared to the normal intro.
Starship Troopers
What are you, a bug spy?
star trek:continues did a mirror mirror episode which is really good stargate universe (if you can stand it) had mostly human badguys, though the main characters weren't evil stargate SG-1 had an early episode where daniel goes all evil, convinces the US government to build a network of orbital deathrays, and then proceeds to take over the world, [sp]but its a trance thing[/sp] actually SG-1 had a couple episodes where alternate realities had earth full of assholes
For those who don't know Starship Troopers is actually a movie about indoctrination and fascism. It's also a movie where a bunch of bugs get blown the fuck up. So that's cool too.
What are you, a bug spy?

I dunno man, those bugs were hurling giant meteors at our planet.
Stop it ya dicks. I can't tell if you're serious or if you're parodying the movie. :v:
I dunno man, those bugs were hurling giant asteroids at our planet.
but we were trying to wipe them out as much as they were us, plus we didn't really give a damn that some types of bugs were sentient
star trek:continues did a mirror mirror episode which is really good stargate universe (if you can stand it) had mostly human badguys, though the main characters weren't evil stargate SG-1 had an early episode where daniel goes all evil, convinces the US government to build a network of orbital deathrays, and then proceeds to take over the world, [sp]but its a trance thing[/sp] actually SG-1 had a couple episodes where alternate realities had earth full of assholes
I love the Star Gate series.
but we were trying to wipe them out as much as they were us, plus we didn't really give a damn that some types of bugs were sentient
Hey, we had a "Live and Let Live" policy going on. Then they killed a bunch of Mormons. And nuked Buenos Aires. That's like killing a few thousand Mormon colonies. And that's sorta evil.
Fantastic Mr. Fox [editline]11th February 2015[/editline] not really sci-fi but if you like talking puppet animals... :v:
If you don't mind Ghibli movies you could try Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Most of the movie doesn't portray humans too badly other than one faction but the backstory for the movie very clearly does.
I dunno man, those bugs were hurling giant asteroids at our planet.
Pretty sure the asteroid stuff happens as a response. It's been like 10 years since I watched it but vaguely, isn't the main plot that humanity is spreading throughout the stars rapidly and we encounter the bugs, and rather than letting them have their space and avoiding them, instead we try to exterminate them, which results in the bugs assaulting humanity in response (it just seems like the bugs are the aggressors because of all the propaganda in the film)
Starship Troopers
Wow mate. Have you forgotten Buenos Aires?
Wow mate. Have you forgotten Buenos Aires?
That was most likely a natural disaster the federation spun to create a war with the Arachnids.
Weren't the bugs out to kill everyone else anyway? I remember in the CGI series the humies let some aliens join up with them after the bugs tried to strip mine everything on their planet through slave labor
I'm not sure what happens in that series but originally they were violent, but probably because the humans provoked them iirc
I'm not sure what happens in that series but originally they were violent, but probably because the humans provoked them iirc
I'd say if the humans didn't get aggressive the bugs wouldn't have responded. But once humans indicated hostility, the bugs having no concept of communication decided we were an active threat. Diplomacy is impossible if you can't talk so the bugs just go full rampage.
Warframe has humans as the main big bad. However the game is a huge grindfest.
Incoming Forces for PC. After Earth got attacked by Aliens in Incoming 1, mankind has reverse engineered alien tech to attack other alien races unrelated to the invasion in Incoming 1. Also the Matrix series or more specificly Animatrix where it's revealed that the Humans started the war on the machines.
If you're gonna go down that road then the entire Alien franchise is a good one to hit up as well.
. yea but that is humans bing dicks to human.
Wow mate. Have you forgotten Buenos Aires?
nuclear fuel can't melt steel cities
Battle for Terra has humanity as a race of invading refugees.
