As great as W3 was on launch, the patches and updates have improved it immensely for me.
By all means is it nice that they add it in later on, but should NG+ be a DLC in the first place? Shouldn't it have just always been there?
Yes, hooray NG+, but I don't see the good thing about it being in the DLC program and long after launch. You know? It doesn't seem as applaudable as the article wants it to be, but certainly nothing to boo at.

It probably wasn't done when the game was released. And it's free, what's the problem anyway?

They had a core game done and gave it to the people like they wanted. Then they gave people free stuff for weeks to come afterwards in a move that also gets them some publicity. Win win win.

Also reduces used game sales a bit early on, people won't sell their games as fast when there's a steady stream of free stuff coming their way.

The "problem" (there is no actual problem as I said, it's a non-issue) is that it's part of a DLC program, not just a patch like the alternate movement system. It's "taking up" a DLC slot, it also means it was planned to be released as a DLC to begin with, not intended to be in the game from the start.

I am making it based on the fact that they had already planned the 16 DLC back in November 2014. Seeing as NG+ is part of those 16 DLCs they literally never meant for it to be included in the release from the start, which is really odd.
I don't have a problem with DLC at all, I have a "problem" with NG+ being part of a planned DLC program.
Also bringing up a strong word like hatred is really uncalled for, I have been very insistent that my complaint here is not one that paints it as a problem at all, just something that doesn't rub me personally the right way. According to CD Projekt Red, NG+ was an idea that a lot of people wanted so they said they might do it, pretty sure it wasn't planned.
Might be wrong though.

Whether it was planned or not I don't know why it's taking up a planned DLC slot. It just dilutes the meaning of DLC in the first place in my opinion. Just release it as a normal update, I don't know why anyone would not install the NG+ DLC in the first place, having a checkmark for it on the Galaxy client seems unnecessary.

The end result would only be the same if they made it a 15 dlc pack as a result of that, otherwise something else would have been added as the 16th dlc in addition to ng+.
I think they did plan to release NG+ as DLC (that DLC 9 bits of code found in the game files), scratched it and then went back to it again once they realized it was what players wanted. They might've not even begun to come up with the DLC that was going to be DLC 16 instead of NG+

What kind of arsehat sells games anyway, I get saving money but where's the love? Don't want to replay it? Fine. But there's something wonderful about having a shelf full of games you love. I'd never get rid of Halo: Reach or Gears 2, I doubt I'll go back to them in the near future but they're worth more on the shelf to me than £5 + postage on eBay.

DLC means DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT
it is CONTENT that you can DOWNLOAD
It's DLC because it takes a team and money to create it, especially if the core game was never designed for it in the first place. Money was allocated for 16 DLCs. NG+ is significant work, so therefore they had to spend money on developing, thus it took a DLC slot.

The end result [B]is[/B] the same. You get it for free no matter how it is provided to you or what it is called. The only difference is that it's provided as optional DLC as opposed to mandatory when included in a patch. Of course that's ignoring that you can also choose not to patch your game if you so choose but that's beside the point.
