"roguelike"
Why
i guess "roguelike" now means "anything with randomly generated levels"
I played the demo they released ages ago and the level in it was crap. Along with enemies whose blood damages you if you touch it made the thing pretty tedious.
If they've improved how levels are generated and have better enemy design it would probably be okay, but one of the biggest strengths of Doom (and Doom 2 especially) was the level design, and procedural generation is not up to the task of making good FPS levels (or good levels in general, I would argue).
I hope they put as much effort in the end product as they did for the trailer.
A game that has randomly generated levels should never market itself as a tribute to old-school FPS.
