It looks very gewd. Starting to remind me of the Island Troll Tribes maps back in warcraft 3.
This is starting to look really good.
I wonder if we will be able to build boats to go places
If it wasn't for that naked man I would've never guessed that this was Rust.
Wow. That cave looks incredible. Really hoping those stick around, I'd love to make a cave base!
Every week I get more and more impressed.
Don't stop doing these Devblogs any time soon please.
Rust is really shaping up to become an awesome game at the full release. Facepunch Studios are really putting their heart into this game.
Looks good but graphics don't make the game.
Will see how it works out.
Dunno if this is a problem

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that, there would be weird pop-in

Chances are it loads your cell+surrounding ones.
Yeah you subscribe to all cells in a radius

How long do you think it would take to switch to Unity 5, when it's available for you guys to use?
Shouldn't take long as I bet it will be a top priority.

Probably 1-2 days to transfer the code, Probably 1 week to test everything
Hey garry if you still read this, can you go into a bit more detail about how the pathing/avoidance works now? Like, is it a fully inhouse or a modded version of some framework and what not?
Is it wrong that I wish Facepunch studios would make a co-op hunting/fishing game on the sidelines?
Cause seriously, the environmental scenes they make would go excellent in a game about hunting whitetail or elk.
Rust is already a hunting game. If you mean a hunting sim, no, I think that's not needed.

It shouldn't be too hard to make a hunting mod once the game reaches final/near final state.
Another thing is figuring out how ironsights and scopes are going to be done in the final build.
One thing I thought would be kinda funny is having peep-sights made from a pop tap, and small bit of metal at the end. The red dot scope could be a soup can with glass, and the red dot being animal blood.
I really should draw up a few design concepts, but honestly... So many cool things could be done for scopes, ironsights, and otherwise.
That sounds awfully impractical. It would be easier aiming with no scope at all than animal blood red dot.
Yeah it does.... :v:
What about the pop tap peepsight?
Soup can with two pieces of thin twine stretched across to make a manual crosshair.
I mean, it's what the Rust crosshair kiddies did to their monitors, so it'll feel natural to them.

red dot / reflex sights require a light projection so animal blood won't work because it'd have no parallax

Even with a scope which would be more-or-less just a piece of broken glass in a can? No magnification or the like, just simply something to call a "scope" and have something to point where you are aiming.

if you just have a flat piece of glass you will have no depth to 'align' anything and so you would never know where that flat piece of glass (and by extension, your gun) is pointing
if you just have a flat piece of glass you have no way of knowing where that flat piece of glass (and by extension, your gun) is pointing
I'll be honest with you, I'm a retard in the subject we are discussing, pls explain how that works.
