"SteamOS is bad because of reasons." To sum up the article, until actual information comes out on the OS and it gets in the hands of devs, more fruitless speculation isn't really doing anyone any good. A major point of SteamOS is that it's a generic platform to build upon openly, Gabe hated Win 8's app store BS, thus, this.
Another thing people forget, Valve does stuff iteratively. In 20 years, SteamOS could come on TV's, no box needed.
I think people should be a little more conscious of how dumb the general consumer is. If it literally isn't plug-and-play, expect technical support calls.
Only valid complaint is the one about the greenlight curation process.
All the shit that's leaked in, minecraft rip-offs and so on.
I really like the fact that it actually puts up some kind of default specs. This has been quite a good point for console developers and maybe provide a little bit of help in the future in terms of useability by devs. I'm intrigued about what's going to happen.
So from this article I deduced Greenlight's still really wonky.
Didn't tell me jack about SteamOS. Tho I guess it's a valid point that Valve's the type to keep reiterating things for years until they're perfect, something Indies don't have the stamina for.
But even that's a point about Greenlight since SteamOS isn't even out yet and thus we don't know about its state of quality.
