it seems to me that privatizing the emergency response system is a bad idea, on the basis that it has no way to make a profit, doesn't have a public mandate to work, and will more than likely embezzle public funds to shareholders while not actually implementing upgrades to keep the service running. also lets not forget the already questionable amount of lobbying power that telecoms have over governmental regulation agencies, now you want to hand another big piece of critical infastructure off to them and believe they won't use it later as an excuse for why they need less regulations?
