Nvidia is expected to delay its next-generation DirectX 11-supporting GPU (Fermi) to March, 2010, while AMD will launch more GPUs in January-February, according to sources from graphics card makers.
Nvidia originally scheduled to launch Fermi in November 2009, but was delayed until CES in January 2010 due to defects, according to market rumors. However, the company recently notified graphics card makers that the official launch will now be in March 2010, the sources noted.
Nvidia plans to launch a 40nm GDDR5 memory-based Fermi-GF100 GPU in March, and will launch a GF104 version in the second quarter to target the high-end market with its GeForce GTX295/285/275/260, the sources pointed out.
For performance level markets, Nvidia will allow its GeForce GTS250, GT240/220 and 9800GT/9500GT defend against AMD's Radeon HD 5770/5750, 4870/4850 and 4670/4650.
For the mainstream market, Nvidia will mainly push its GeForce 210.
Meanwhile, AMD will launch 40nm Radeon HD 5670/5570 (Redwood) and HD 5450 (Cedar) GPUs at the end of January or in February 2010, the sources noted.
In related news, although Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC's) 40nm process yields have already improved, capacity is still not sufficient to supply the two GPU giants fully which may have an impact the launch schedules, the sources added.
Nvidia declined the opportunity to respond to this report saying it cannot comment on unannounced products. AMD did not respond by the time of publication.
Oh dear, NVIDIA better be bringing something exceptionally special to the table.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Sucks to be nVidia.
Still, :crossfingers: for card prices dropping
Looks like I'm actually gonna go ATi instead then, seriously I'm not gonna wait that long to get rid of this 295.

looks like nvdia will be keeping quiet for a while yet then :fuckyou:
I don't give a fuck who's better.. seriously. Don't start arguing about this.
All I care about is that neither companies get a monopoly position.

Good luck defending lol
By the time nvidia actually manages to make something ATI has already released 6000 series
Good luck defending lol
As long as they have their fanboys they'll be fine.
as a staunch nvidia supporter, I feel like im gonna go ATI now as well.
NOOOO I want my GTX 300!
i guess there's a shortage of wood screws
There's no reason to always support one company over the other. Buy from whoever is producing products of the best value at the time. Competition is good for everyone.

I personally try to support AMD because they're kind of the economic underdogs. Their hardware isn't really that inferior to Intel, yet they're barely making any profit and in millions of dollars worth of debt. I mean the way it is now, it really isn't what you would call a fair situation, considering the huge monetary advantage Intel has over AMD. In this case promoting competition requires supporting the underdog, cause if we let AMD die, that's when we're fucked.
hahahahahahaha
fuck nvida why do i have an nforce mobo.

Not really in debt anymore. If they are even after that settlement they really need to get some new management.
Woodscrews joke wasn't really funny after you read about it. All they did was make a model to bring instead of the GPU...
God damn nvidia, you've really fucked up recently...
The negative view is that the risk wafers are invalid, and Nvidia waits for A3 to come back before it puts in production wafers. That would be the outer bound, Jan 1 +10 +2 weeks, or April 1, Q2 of 2010.
I knew from the beginning it would be way to hot, but this proves that it's a failed design.
I love nvidia for my 8800gt, but Ati is the way to go nowadays.

You can't deny that the Fermi is a bit on the humongous side.
But I really hope it can work, though at a high price most likely.

So SEMIaccurate it's a month off (if that: nvidia still has time to push it back more). More accurate than nvidia already!

Yep, and a good bit is right. As we can see.

Don't they mean GeForce 310? :smug:
Seriously though, Nvidia better have something good to make up for all the time they've lost.

Just in case you want to sperge IT'S CHARLIE IT CAN'T BE TRUE the source is from nvidia itself. Also note for smartassness sake that's it's tesla they are talking about in that article as well, but that still falls under fermi.

Yeah I saw that, but that doesn't really say much about how the final product will perform compared to current cards.
