So my dad's laptop updated today, and when it rebooted, he can not login.
He had a password set up, and it said cannot load the user profile. Thinking this was a password issue with him being somewhat forgetful, I bought[fucking retarded] a program to reset the password from booting a CD. Well it did a good job of erasing the password, however...
It seems to be a registry error with his account. Even after the password reset, it still says the same thing, Cannot load User Profile. The administrator account and guest account are both deactivated.
So, how the hell am I supposed to follow This Walkthrough if I can't log in to click on the damn start button?
Really frustrated, never had this issue before, and don't know how the hell I'm supposed to activate either guest or administrator account.
Thanks in advance.
Can't you login at all? If you can get into command prompt type:
net user administrator /active:yes
This should activate the administrator account. Don't forget to set a password when it's active.
Thanks Drumdevil. I actually fixed the problem by mistake, was very simple. However, no there was no way to log in at all. And from the command prompt I tried bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /fixmbr both worked, but it made the computer unbootable. /facepalm
I somehow managed to fix the problem though. Fucking vista and it's bugs.
