XBAX IS BACKWARDS STRATAGA FUCKIN CANTS
Neither console is out and the PS4 already won.
Who are these 88% that doesn't want backwards compatibility?
yeah because being able to conveniently play my 360 games on a newer console is so much worse than dragging my old 360 out. i understand the hardware limitations and all, but why not just do a sort of emulation thing like the 360 did with original games
I don't know why people expected backwards compatibility when this new console is literally a PC in a different box
I don't know why people expected backwards compatibility when this new console is literally a PC in a different box
Then it should be able to play older games like a pc, no? :v:
Thinking that backward compatibility is backward is backward thinking, dumbass. [editline]22nd May 2013[/editline] ^Not you.
Oh my god is everyone run by idiots now? Backwards compatibility should be ONE of main things you do for you're console. It means people will have more then 1 game to play when the new console is put out on the market!
And a game console is actually a voice-controlled TV.
Yea I want to buy a console to play a different consoles games.
The only time I ever wanted backwards compatibility was when I realized the Wii U does not play Gamecube games. I guess Nintendo spoiled me by allowing one generation back of backwards compatibility.
Then it should be able to play older games like a pc, no? :v:
Not really, considering one of the biggest parts about developing for consoles is optimizing and cheating as much as possible to get the best performance they can squeeze out of that specific set of hardware. You can't just put it on different hardware and be done with it, a shit ton of stuff would have to be reworked to take advantage of the newer hardware
As consoles are becoming more and more like PC's, except they're not gaining any of the benefits, why are consoles (in this case, the Xbox One) such a great idea again?
Who are these 88% that doesn't want backwards compatibility?
They probably asked a question like, "Would you be happy to see Xbox games released for download on Xbox Live for the new Xbox console?", and then used the data to say something different.
Trying to play older games on the new xbox would be like emulating older console games on the pc and that's why I'm assuming both consoles are going against it.
Who are these 88% that doesn't want backwards compatibility?
I am pretty sure they asked people if they ever wanted or tried to play older generation games on new consoles. Most did not. I actually did not care to play any of my xbox games on my 360.
I think backwards compatibility helps consoles at the beginning since people don't lose their entire library switching over. It can be phased out as more and more games are developed for the new consoles.
I agree people would be complaining if it was backwards compatible at the expense of performance.
If we're talking backwards, your console made for playing interactive stories is focusing on non-interactive stories WHO IS BACKWARDS NOW MICROSOFT
only about 5% of customers play older games on their new system
well maybe if you made the newer system compatible with more than about 5 of the old system's games people would actually use it
Not even Xbox Classics? They are both x86 systems.
Idiots. PS4 it is.
Microsoft: EA part 2
they literally could have just said "hey there's no backwards compatability k" and left it at that and most people would be fine with it, it's an understandable if mildly disappointing limitation. But making a snarky statement that people that would like backwards compatibility are "backwards thinkers"? You are literally insulting a portion of your userbase, it's like MS is actively trying to see how much bullshit they can get away with.
"If you're backwards compatible, you're really backwards."
So is naming the third iteration in your generation of consoles the Xbox ONE, whereas ONE implies # FUCKING ONE, LIKE THE FIRST ONE OF ITS KIND, WHICH IT ISN'T. Oh yeah and also Sony has backwards compatibility in a way, are they backwards too Microsoft?! Backwards just like your stock is going backwards? get buried Microsoft
If Backward compatibility is 'backwards' then why does the 3DS/Wii/Wii U Virtual Console get so many sales?
Microsoft you're really kinda being giant dickbags recently i mean jesus.
Why did so many people buy the 3DS just to play DS games with a circle pad? Why did so many people buy the Vita to play PSP games with a second stick? Why did so many people buy the Game Boy Colour to play select Game Boy games in Colour? Why did so many people buy the Game Boy Advance to play Game Boy, Game Boy Colour, NES and SNES games?
yeah because being able to conveniently play my 360 games on a newer console is so much worse than dragging my old 360 out. i understand the hardware limitations and all, but why not just do a sort of emulation thing like the 360 did with original games
The goal is to slowly phase out older game systems so you are forced to purchase and buy the next generation to continue playing games. It's why certain major publishers shut down older games server structures and companies with multiple MMO's will shut down older ones. It's not about "saving costs" and other graphs with illusioned data they wave in front of you; it's so they can keep you from being 'content' with your older purchases, and in doing so they have an easier time convincing you to buy their new products. It's a greedy, soulless market strategy that is painfully transparent. Vehicle manufactures do this all the time when they stop supporting old vehicles, though in a far slower fashion so most people fail to notice or care.
