I'm looking to buy a laptop for college. I'm going to be using it only for programming and everyday use. No gaming, rendering, or anything heavy like that. My budget is $800, however I'm willing to go up to $1k if needed(I don't think I will need to, though). I will be buying this in ~2 months, however I'm looking now to plan on saving. I prefer the following items, however they don't have to be added. Resolution at least 1600x900(1366x768 usually doesn't work well when writing code) Battery life at least 7-8 hours I've been looking at the Lenovo Thinkpad X, E and T series, but my knowledge is limited when it comes to laptops. I live in the US. Thanks!

Is it worth the upgrade to the i7 and 1920x1080 display? Who knows, I may end up doing some light gaming here and there. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z710/
I can't see it or find it due to forementioned terrible mobile site, but that would definitely be worth it.
I think that if your going to do some gaming it comes down to the graphics more than the processor. But the processor will be a lot snappier and you will notice it. Past that its about the small things that makes a laptop good
