Probably enough people that were just glued to their screen and ran into a busy street or whatnot.

Ive had friends hunt for pokemon while I drove or vice versa, all you had to do was make sure to get into the "battle" mode before they left the screen. During the launch, all the way back when it got leaked and for a significant period of time after, Pokemon would spawn while driving at pretty much any normal driving speed.

I've seem people slam on thier brakes because a rare pokemon spawned. smh.
