Steam on portable hardrive

i want to put steam on a portable hardrive as my 250gb hardrive is to small, i have been told i can do so, but i dont know which one to get, i want to get this one but is fast enough. i dont know much, about pcs and stuff like this.So could you tell me if this is ok

I used an external HDD and it worked fine for even Gmod.

you paid £100 for them to strip you of the ability to perform the simplest of upgrades, or if it's the type I'm thinking of, even clean up dust? talk about good value

I've played TF2 on an external HDD for a year with no problems.

it was a xmas present i didnt pay for it. its a year old now

As long as the drive's fast enough, you can install steam and any game to it, as long as you execute steam.exe from the external harddrive and you have steam installed on the pc it will run from.
