Allowing for easy use of mod creation and installation adds a lot to the lasting appeal of a game.

The point is that if a system was around that was equally as easy to use as Workshop or even easier, then no one would give that much of a shit about it because it isn't a Valve serivce.
eg look at the mentality of Eeshton, if the game had such a mod system already in place he probably wouldn't care about it as much as Workshop.

Not too keen on the microtransaction feature that allows you to increase your default squads with an extra tank or special unit.. In a 1v1 or something, I can see this completely making it unfair.
