This is slightly upsetting. There's a blockbuster not too far from here. Sad though it is, it was inevitable once hulu and netflix picked up speed.
End of an era. Had a lot of good memories renting N64 and PS2 games from them.
I've seen a lot of empty Blockbuster rooms around London...I've never seen it before(because Latvia is shit and was USSR so we didn't have it) and it's weird and sad looking at big Blockbuster logo on the building while the space itself for the store is empty. :(
Our Blockbusters have been closed for yeeeeearrs now. But back in the day it was awesome. Me being little and my sister being the manager, i got free games all the time.
sweet dreams, blockbuster... I'll not forget the wonderful times that I spend renting old PS1 and PS2 games and getting your summer pass.
Recently, I've not been using blockbuster at all, and wouldn't be if it even were still there. I think it's a good thing, as mine was replaced with an urgent care that I had to be rushed to somewhat recently because of dehydration (high blood sugars, then ketosis and unwillingness to drink water). Nostalgia, from renting old tapes from there, but digital distribution killed it.
The only blockbuster store in this city used to have a big place, but now they sold off about 75% of the space for the gym and I think they're closing down soon They should of really jumped on the digital age quickly its a shame to see them go but life goes on
God damn it, one used to be down the road from me. They had a sale on everything in the store, but I never got around to checking it out. Now it's a Rent a Center
Every time my brother passes by a video store, he goes "Oo, look an artifact!"
damn where can i smoke crack now
Goodbye Blockbuster. It was fun renting an N64 and Pokemon Stadium for a weekend. ;_;7
The Blockbuster near me has been out of business and re-purposed as a furniture store for like 7 years. The small scale video stores originally shut down due to the Blockbuster showing up....... I kinda miss going to video stores in general. I mean, VOD is nice and all, but there was always something special about going to the video store, be it small scale or Blockbuster.
Dammit, and I haven't even got to finish one of my rentals back in Blockbuster. Sucks to see a business die out this way.
I still have this one PS2 game that I didn't return to blockbuster from years back
What's sad is that 13 years ago Netflix went to Blockbuster seeking a partnership and were "laughed out of the office."
Y'know, Blockbuster closed in Peru a long time ago, and I swear, every single Blockbuster became a drugstore
it's unfortunate, i really will miss blockbuster. there was a certain allure to being a kid and impromptu driving to the store with your friends to pick up some shitty movie from the early 70s that no one has ever heard of, watch it that evening, and return it. netflix won't ever be able to replicate that as they don't have the selection nor the novelty of actually making the excursion, and redbox's selection is so restrictive that they don't have many of the more obscure things that were fun to browse through. hell we used to go and hang out in the blockbuster for half an hour easily just looking at all the movies and games trying to figure out which one to spend what little money we had on. rip
I still have this one PS2 game that I didn't return to blockbuster from years back
My friend actually got a call about a year or so ago from Blockbuster asking him to return his rented copy of dino crisis 2 he got when he was like 7 years old. He said "come get it" and hung up.
my local one closed a day ago, RIP... Will miss going there for PS2/N64/PS1 games back in the day
Not sure why, but I actually feel slightly sad right now. No, scratch that. I actually might have depression now.
make sure to rent some games ASAP people

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I would go to Blockbuster all the time and rent Gamecube games. RIP
I know some people who tried to keep a bunch of rentals because they were going under, blockbuster threatened legal action till they returned their rentals
