This is in the PC Building section because it really is a PC Building Question
I posted my problem in another thread and got this:
Gate A20 failure
* Check for foreign objects such as screws that may ground the desktop board and make sure the screws that hold the motherboard are not too tight.
* Try a different keyboard.
* Try a different processor.
I tried everything there and nothing worked, so I decided to make a temporary computer out of old parts I had for I can ask a question
Actual photo of this lame temporary computer (Runs pretty fast actually...):

Here's my question:
I've been wanting to upgrade my PC for some time now. I'm getting paid next week and wanted to know if I could just buy a new motherboard and processor and just add in my video card. hard drive and ram into it without any problems.
If so I would like some help on to purchasing the right motherboard/processor. I would like it to be a max of $400 for both.
These are just pictures of the RAM, hard drive and video card I've got:
Buffalo 1GB 667MHz; 2Rx8 DDR2 (Don't know what some of this means, maybe useful to you)
Also I'm pretty sure I counted 120 pins on it. Goes [64pins][GAP][56pins]. I'm guessing that be a 240pin RAM?

My PS3 died on me so I'm using it's hard drive.

I was thinking of getting this: Click Here (Hopefully I get my money before it goes out of stock).
I'm still kind of new to this PC Building stuff so I'm not always sure on what parts to get for my build can run smoothly.
If you know of any better motherboards/processors I can buy that will work with my parts, please help me out.
Thanks.
Everything is out of the case.....
You need a case first.
You could possibly make a build that would play all source games for under 300 bucks
What's the connector on the PS3 HDD? Is it the Sideways L, I haven't worked with ps3 hdd's before.
Well then you would have to buy DDR3 memory with that combo.So you need a socket 775 mobo and CPU.

I have 3 cases but I didn't feel like screwing anything. Anyways, that first picture is just temporary and I'm not using any of those parts on it with my Gaming PC (The one that died and now trying to resurrect).
You can keep everything but you'll need to reformat/sysprep the HDD
Theres these combos.Personally i would get the 9550 combo.

I can hook up my HDD to my temp right now. Will I be able to do the "sysprep" like that? I never heard of sysprep. I did google it. Looks kind of complicated.
Good idea to reformat
