as it says above the SVN checkout with tortoise SVN wont work,any help? (i tried to do the hawx addon and i put this in the svn repository or whatever

it should work just fine if you created a new folder in addons called hawxaddon, right clicked it, SVN checkout, copy the URL (without the [color] stuff), and hit checkout.
I believe correct me if im wrong but SVN links are generally HTTPS.

Some are, some aren't.

thats exactly what i did! but it still says failed,maybe its because there is no check mark next to ANY of the garrysmod files or anything?

No, did it give a specific error?
yes it says "error OPTIONS of 'http://hawxmod.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/hawxaddon': 200 OK ([URL]http://hawxmod.googlecode.com[/URL])"
Then it is a problem with the server.

That's a VERY bad idea. If you check out directly to folders in addons, it DOUBLES the amount of files that Garry's Mod reads when it loads (due to the .svn folder).
Check out to a folder outside addons, and then do an export.
