On my iPhone so quoting and tagging etc is a tad difficult.

However I will say that it's pretty fucking awesome.
I think I saw this yesterday, looks pretty awesome. it has multiplayer too.
Wow... a web browser can play a game from the 90's... Wake me up when you have something impressive to show us, like being able to play Crysis on a graphing calculator.

Considering the next best thing is a performance hog that has a hard time playing multiple colours on screen, this is a milestone in web development.

Well, think about that this is pure HTML (I think?)

This is fucking cool

It's not google chrome that does it, it's the coding. It's just that the nightly build of google chrome runs the absolutely latest build of webkit.

HTML and JavaScript.

Hahaha, yea, but when that happens, you will think Crysis is what you used to play on your gameboy.
I might try to get this going on my Mac to see how good it is. It's nice to see WebGL being used so quickly after it's announcement, even if it is limited to ~11% of computers.

If you even bothered to click it you'd see it was running on Safari or a WebKit build (which uses Safari for everything, except that the rendering engine is a different version). If you think HTML5 is something exclusive to Chrome, you're just being ignorant.
This is amazing. Imagine what they could do if they started making ports of bigger games in HTML5. I know it's a long shot, but it's possible.
I'm running a copy here you can try with a compatible browser: http://helium.hexxeh.net:8080/GwtQuake.html

hurr it's not impressive unless it's physically impossible

Exactly. It's a 15 year old game running at less than 30fps. No thanks. :v:

in the video it says 60fps :P
All it said was Up to 60fps.
That's probably only if you're looking straight at the ground with no AI and no movement.
You have to admit though, this will make browser games oh so more awesome.
On my Macbook Pro (9400M with 2.26GHz C2D) it ran at about 20 fps. Not fantastic but it is technically a webpage, so pretty damn impressive.

Runs faster than flash at any rate :v:

im using chrome and i did what it says and it still says this
WebGL Support Required
For a list of compatible browsers and installation instructions, please refer to

For a detailed error log, please refer to the JS console.
If you click the link you will see chrome requires the following parameters to run it:
--enable-webgl --no-sandbox
They also note --no-sandbox disables security features and so shouldn't be used in day to day.

Up until now the best we can do is play Flash games.
If you think it's so insignificant then get off your ass and develop Crysis for Chrome. Otherwise you're just a smart-ass hypocrite.
can someone help me
