This is all it's going to be forever? Whenever there's been a breakthrough in technology about 'improving' humans, the quotes from Deus Ex come rolling in...
Eletronic old men are the future.
Clever deus ex quote? Uhh.... What a shame?
Is real emotion actually possible with technology?
So i guess that in the future, if you would get brain cancer that is not possible to cure, you could just remove the brain and put a chip in your head and you would be good as new.
Expantion modules for your brain.
"Omg can't do reallife max graphics it lags"- replace the part that communicates with your eyes.
Is real emotion actually possible with technology?
I doubt it.
Is real emotion actually possible with technology?
Of course, why not. Unless you believe there is a ghost in the machine.
Eletronic old men are the future.
Old men. Running the world.
Clever deus ex quote? Uhh.... What a shame?
Yeah, Rip.
This is so awesome I speel my DREENK.
Of course, why not. Unless you believe there is a ghost in the machine.
Careful with what you speak, the machine spirits are easily irritated!

May your weapon be guarded against malfunction, as your soul is guarded from impurity. The Machine God watches over you.
Is real emotion actually possible with technology?
Depends entirely on how you define emotion, I guess.
e·mo·tion/iˈmōSHən/
Noun:
A natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.
Any of the particular feelings that characterize such a state of mind, such as joy, anger, love, hate, horror, etc.
Going by this definition, yeah. Why not?
edit: well, apart from the "natural" part, but eh
I never asked for this.
Depends entirely on how you define emotion, I guess.
I don't think that it does.
I can't imagine any reasonable definition of emotion that precludes a machine intelligence feeling it.
I read MIT as MT
As in... Big MT

I have one word, EMP.
Well it's actually formed of few words.
Technology like that always sounds awesome until you remember bluescreens and the like.
So i guess that in the future, if you would get brain cancer that is not possible to cure, you could just remove the brain and put a chip in your head and you would be good as new.
I think it would probably feel weird having a chip moving around in an empty head wouldn't you think?
Does anyone remember the big AI research project MIT started a few years ago? This is probably a part of it.
It's a long way to go from a computer chip that simulates the activity of a single brain synapse to a.. million of them.
