In the Norwegian military we can choose between various free and optional educational programs, some obligatory and if you choose to take the final exam you get 15 extra credits for further education.

It's called the Finnish Defence Forces over here. You learn to kill people but you won't be putting those skills to use, not with our foreign policy.
Joining isn't exactly obligatory but we have conscription and the alternative choices are deliberately made a lot worse than the standard military service. The rational choice would be military service.

I'd answer "Yes, I'm a loser". I haven't the balls to refuse service and go to jail or to flee the country. And I know that the alternative service lasts longer and you won't get that much benefits - work experience, yes, but unless you're doing something you like to do, it's of little use - for some reason alternative service is discriminated in work life compared to military service.

The middle eastern conflict is nearing its demise. Next targets are probably Iran or North Korea. And UN is on the side of the United States if and when it boils down to war. If there was a conscription for either of those wars if they ever do happen, Chances are Canada would be doing the same. Seeing as Canada feels that we should do what the UN illustrates.

I remember the day i first grabbed a .22 rifle and looked down the scope.
It was amazing to feel the kick, hear the bang and see the round hit bullseye so far away.
Although there is a bit of a difference between a .308 and a .22, i still intend on doing it. Sure, voluntary, sure, dangerous, but entertaining? High-caliber rifles, gunpowder and serious business with bros in tanks. Why the fuck not, says i?
