• Monitor (24"-27", <$300) that will display both PC and console clearly?

I'm in need of a monitor that's: -Between 24" and 27" -Less than $300 -Has DVI and HDMI ports -Won't have issues with the resolutions on either PC or consoles -Preferably sold on Newegg, my dad wants to include it in his order so he can use his business card. I'm currently borrowing a 24" 1080p LED ViewSonic (VX2450wm-LED) monitor and it works perfectly for my PC using a DVI connection with my GTX 560 Ti. I recently got an HDMI+Audio extractor and HDMI to DVI cable so I could play my Xbox on my monitor but even with the console set to 1080p, it looks horrid. As in trying to watch a 360p video fullscreen on YouTube horrid. I've looked up solutions, one person said their BenQ monitor has no issues with their Xbox, which is the explanation of what kind of monitors I've been looking at on Newegg. I've messed around with the display settings on both the monitor and console but none of it improved the quality. I'm not that great with monitors and what specs will have an affect on what, but I'd greatly appreciate any guidance. I've looked at some HDTV's around 32" before but people have said consoles will look good, but PC's will look a bit fuzzy because of the resolution being stretched (IIRC). I just want a monitor that can display both my Xbox and PC clearly at 1980x1080. Here are some monitors I've looked at. I don't want to go below 24" but I also wouldn't mind something larger at 27" unless that'll affect how clearly the PC will be displayed. Asus: 24" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236153 27" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236103 BenQ: *24" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014270 27" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014300 *Right now I'm thinking the 24" BenQ monitor with all the other fancy features would be what I'm looking for, also because it has the DVI and two HDMI ports. I'll mostly be using the monitor for gaming, the occasional movie, and amateur photo editing and web design for hobby. I'm not running anything with Blu-Ray yet, not until the PS4 comes out. Thanks for any help I can get, I can try some more troubleshooting if anyone has suggestions.
If you're looking to game then I wouldn't go any larger than 23.6" if you want to play competitively. Plus most 27" won't go higher than 1920x1080 which essentially looks worse than 23.6 because of the pixel density. I have the predecessor of this monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236153 It's fantastic, only downside is that it's a bit wobbly if your table isn't solid. [editline]2nd August 2013[/editline] You don't want to do the BenQ because the latency is 3ms higher and contrast ratio is extremely lower than the Asus's. (Blacks aren't as black, whites aren't as white.) 120hz is really just 60hz with frame interpolation, which isn't really worth it.
So then that 24" Asus is probably my best bet, and leaves me with some more money to get M-Audio monitors as well. In the comments some people said they're using it with their Xbox, I'm guessing they're using a straight HDMI connection without any conversion to DVI but there's a 3.5 jack on the back so audio shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the info.

I won't be going back, and any friends who saw it agrees. I own a XL2420T, the darks are better because of BenQ black eQualizer technology & it has 2ms GTG. (Newer model has 1ms GTG & 144hz, not out yet though) The stand with swivel etc is pretty great too, I use the height adjust a lot. It won't really help him with his Xbox, but with a desktop.. Geezuuuz
I play games A LOT more on my desktop than on Xbox. As long as the resolution is fine with the Xbox and looks decent, any improvement with how the desktop displays would be great. The Xbox will mostly be for GTA V when that comes out and other games I already have. The height adjust would be really helpful since I've been using a stack of magazines but even then I'm still looking down at the monitor rather than it being level. I haven't tried 120hz yet though. I came across this one too if it's any good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

There's a reason why you see this monitor all over tournaments (and a slightly different one for Starcraft now, mainly because of pricing). Anyways, all I can say. If your computer can do ~100 and best 120 and above, then it's FUCKING worth it. I adore this screen. Also, ermm.. I heard some people fail at this, but you have to manually change the monitors refresh rate in your windows settings (you double click on the monitor under screen resolution, then goto the monitor tab), might be able to do it in your drivers too. There's tutorials over the web if it doesn't come in logically to you. A lot of people know how to do this because of CRT's back in the day. (And yes, the refresh rate has actually been a huge reason why some gamers took a long time to change to flatscreen)
