Does anybody have one of these phones, as far as I know they came out recently, seems like it's one of the fastest phones on the market right now. I've had an iPhone for 3 years I think now and I'm getting kinda bored of it.
Anyway heres the Samsung Galaxy S... http://androinica.com/2010/03/26/samsung-galaxy-s-contains-most-powerful-gpu-in-any-android-phone-to-date/

Reckon I should stick with the iPhone or go with the Galaxy S?
The Nexus S or the recent Tegra 2 phones are better to be honest.
Absolutely go for the Galaxy S, it has some of the best community support you will ever see. Voodoo Sound for example - you could pay hundreds on high end headphone amplifiers, sound cards etc. which the Wolfson WM8994 in the Galaxy S will easily beat, now that its potential has been unlocked. Amazing audio output for headphones - leaps and bounds better than what equivalent Apple hardware produces.
Alternatively get the Nexus S if you want guaranteed updates from Google, but the original Galaxy S seems to have a stronger following.
For the Galaxy S, I highly recommend the top deal on this page: http://www.mobiles.co.uk/orange-samsung-galaxy-s.html - works out at just £500 for 2 years with 500MB internet, 300 mins and 'unlimited' texts, and no upfront cost at all.

The Nexus S has almost exactly the same hardware as the Galaxy S, the only thing that makes the Nexus S better is that google is developing the software for it.
I have a Galaxy S and I love it, the customisability and development scene for it absolutely amaze me. It has the same CPU as the iPhone4 but the Galaxy S has a more powerful graphics processor built into the chip.
Galaxy S also has an SAMOLED screen, which is amazing. The pixel density isn't as high as the iphones retina display (Thanks to the Pentile matrix) but it's a fair trade off for the immense contrast ratios and sharpness.
The thing that annoys me about the Galaxy S is that the standard launcher samsung put on it is pretty poor but it's really easy to download a new one from the market.
I guess it all comes down to what you are after, if you just want a smartphone that works and don't want to mess around with then go for the iphone but if you're after something which you can tinker, tweak and modify with then go with the Galaxy S.
One more for the Galaxy S, though the Google Nexus S is running 2.3, though you can probably install that yourself on the GS.

Cyanogenmod 7 is currently released in a test phase and runs 2.3 on the Galaxy S. It works quite well.
It's possible to run a version of the Nexus S firmware on the Galaxy S but there are alot of issues.
Galaxy S
I have an Ipod and a Galaxy S
Galaxy is MUCH better
Galaxy, hands down. You can have complete freedom over your device, a huge development comunity and flash.
Galaxy S. I traded mine for an iPhone, ended up regretting it and trading the iPhone for another Galaxy S. Even a jailbroken iPhone fades in comparison to Galaxy S.

I know the Nexus S has the same hardware, I was recommending the Nexus S as it will receive faster updates than the Galaxy S, and already has 2.3. Don't assume I'm just talking about the hardware.
Seeing as most leading Android phones will have very similar hardware the speed/certainty of android updates can often be far more important.
With Android around, and having used both, I personally see no reason for anyone to buy an Iphone.
I own a Galaxy S Fascinate. It is better than my old iShit in every single way I can think. There is simply no substitute for the freedom you're allowed.
nexus s because you'll get updates sooner

I didn't assume anything, I just stated the facts.
Galaxy S. Though you'll have to be willing to install custom roms to make it run really well. Check out Darkys rom and Cyanogen Mod. Also Voodoo sound coupled with the audio chip blows away the iphones audio processor.
EDIT: I didn't see anyone recommend the iphone. With the amount of apple fanboys out there I found this surprising.

Well you rated me dumb so I think you were assuming so.
I wouldn't ask on these forums, too much Apple-hate-bandwagoners here.
Apple isn't too bad, Alienware is definitely worse

Uh no I don't think so.

Were not making our descision over which company we hate more. We are choosing which one is technicaly superior, and Android wins in every way.

No, it's not a bandwagon. It's a matter of fact.
Open Platform
More powerful devices
Fast moving market
Scalable
Easily customizable
I used to swear by Iphones and Ipod Touches. Thing is, no matter how I looked at it, I couldn't see a single thing about the Iphone that is better than most Android devices, save for the screen. And even then, I prefer the Super AMOLED of the Samsung Galaxy S over the Retina of the Iphone.

Except for games, an awesome screen, better build quality than every Android phone I've seen, and a super smooth UI.

Cool, you have a more powerful phone(Barely). Too bad nobody develops games for it, and the overall quality of apps is much lower than on the appstore. Scalable? Who cares? Easily customisable? Jailbreak and install themes with one tap. Open platform? What does this even mean in terms of the average user? Nothing is what. The average user wants a phone that just works, rather than a phone loaded with crapware by the manufacturer/carrier that runs like shit unless you flash a new bootloader and a custom ROM, which are often buggy, especially on my Desire HD. I haven't found a single Android phone with build quality comparable to that of the iPhone 4, they all have major flaws, some are cheap and plasticy, almost all have poor touchscreens which cause you to press the wrong thing in the browser too often to count/
The amount of apple hate bandwagon people on Facepunch is unreal.
neither
wait for the desire 2

The only valid points you make are the quality/amount of apps and games and the smooth UI
The only valid points you make are the quality/amount of apps and games and the smooth UI
And I thought the UI on Android was quite smooth.
And I thought the UI on Android was quite smooth.
It's smooth, yes, but there is still a noticeable difference when you see the two side by side.
To put it in gaming terms, it is pretty much the difference between 45 fps and 60 fps.
Being a Galaxy S owner (and a former iPhone owner) get the Galaxy S. There are loads of great custom roms out there if you don't like the stock feel. The community support (as previously stated) is great. XDA-Developers.com is a great place for all of your android needs.
