Couple of things: -2.5" hard drives are for laptops; you'll want a 3.5" for a dekstop -Any reason you want a sound card? Onboard is usually good enough. -Your motherboard has a built in wired NIC
Thanks, list updated. Anything else? The sound card isn't anything too important, so I'll get a cheap one.
250 GB is ridiculously small dude (my steamapps folder is 400 GB and I'm trying to keep it down :v:) and HDDs are ridiculously cheap. Shop around the HDD section of newegg. Spend $120 saved on useless cards on more hard drive space and / or a potential SSD for your OS (and games that take forever to load). That or spend $50 of it on a better GPU (like a 7950) and $50 on a bigger HDD. Also this rig is pretty ridiculous if you just want to play GMOD.
I know, I know, it's OP, but I want this thing to last. I have a tiny HDD because I already have a 1TB USB 3.0 external HDD, so no need to buy more memory. I may look into a SSD though. [editline]12th March 2013[/editline] List updated, 120GB SSD.
If the external is USB 2.0 then it will take forever to load games off it. Having a large internal SATA drive or maybe an external USB 3.0 drive would be better. Also for a cooler everyone (including myself) uses the Cooler Master Hyper 212. I don't have an SSD myself and just keep my computer on sleep most times. Booting from sleep takes a half second anyways. Anyways at $1125 ($25 over budget) this is what I would recommend (using that site). The main features here are a larger internal drive and a better GPU. I resused some of your parts and you don't need to use this exact list but hopefully you can kind of get the general idea of what I'm suggesting.
The ASRock Z77 has Onboard USB 3.0 Header(s), list updated for cooler. Thanks, I'll look at the list you reccomended.

Also I got that board today. [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] Oh yeah also get this shit http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002EQU6C/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Updated, thanks for the help! By the way, should I get the OEM Windows 8 in the list from Newegg, or just buy it from Microsoft? Other than that, would you say I'm ready to buy?

You want to manage everything on a 120 Gb SSD? Thats a horrible idea man. External HDD's arrent meant to be used like this. Must've been a misclick, thought I picked the same mobo in the OP
...You want to manage everything on a 120 Gb SSD? Thats a horrible idea man. External HDD's arrent meant to be used like this....
How do you mean? What are external HDDs meant for except storing stuff on them?
How do you mean? What are external HDDs meant for except storing stuff on them?
Yes, storing and the occasional loading. Not constant loading or "I wand my data to transfer really really fast." Like I store media files and backup my documents on an external drive, not games.
I store my games on my external HDD and they load just fine. I guess an internal HDD wouldn't hurt, though.
i'm in love with the NZXT H2 Case,
If the front is metal and it comes in black. I am too. Looks like something fractal can come up with.
yes its metal and comes in black, behind that pretty metal door it has 2 quick release fans and HDD slots that slide in behind them
I have that case in black - it's nice and quiet - but the metal front can be prone to scratches though (From collision) It also has tons of room for cable management - and the fans in the front can be taken out with no wires (and thus you can clean them with the computer running). It also has a lot of filters preventing dust. So my computer stays dust-free. You just have to clean the filters once in a while though. Only problem I have is the rubber grummets (the cable holes) are very loose. You have to hold on to it when you stick any cables through.

Heres my buddies setup that I just built a few days ago. its an 800 dollar PC not including monitors. Also in pics there isnt a top fan, it was added yesterday, no pic of it. Not a fan of your cable management but it looks really nice, the case, anyway.
