"The memory could not be read" crash in Source Engine games.

Occasionally while I am playing a Source game such as Gmod or Counter-Strike, the game crashes, giving me an error which says something like
"The memory at [insert hexadecimal bs here] referenced memory at [insert more hexadecimal bs here]. The memory could not be 'read'"
It only happens occasionally, but it is plenty enough to be annoying. I am running on Windows XP SP3, I have 2 gigs of ram, and am using a "Nvidia GeForce GT220" video card.
Is anybody else experiencing this problem? And more importantly, does anybody have a solution?
Thanks; -Cyanlime
I used to have this problem when I was on XP, but I don't think that's the problem. Verify the integrity of game cache of Counter-strike. All sources games share a similar file so doing the verification for 1 source game will hopefully fix the problem for them all.
Make sure all your drivers are up to date also
If all else fails, reformat windows.
I'm aware that this is kind of a necrobump, but it is six months since I made this topic and I am still having this problem.
I have reformatted my PC and updated my drivers since then, but to no avail.
The crashes are occuring several times a day now, and it's starting to become difficult to bear.
Any ideas?
Run Memtest86 and see if it gives any errors.
i am getting more ram 4gb should do good but i got 8gb this should fix i hope
