Since it's on sale right now, I feel like buying one. But I don't feel like putting my time into all three games.
Is there a consistent story?
Which of them should I purchase?
Will I be missing some content from one or the other?
Explain please. :D
Warband seems like the best choice, it has everything that the original mount and blade had and pretty good multiplayer. YOu won't miss much other than guns and some minor story differences with fire and sword.
I'd say warband also.

Warband with diplomacy is my favorite.
Warband is so incredibly fun if you don't get a hundred hours out of it you have no taste in games.
Warband for improvement over the original, Mount and Blade for some better mods.
Also, Napoleonic Wars DLC for Warband is pretty good.
There's no consistent story by the way. Warband is set in the exact same time as the original, you make your own story. Fire and Sword is set some time in the 1600's I think.
Warband, defiantly!
Warband is fun, F&S is pretty fun too. Get both if you can
