Maybe they'll look at how well Firaxis did with the remake and go "Maybe we should do something like that."
A proper coop xcom shooter would be cool though, one where you die as fast as in the original xcom games, then take control of a new squaddie and embark again from the skyranger.

I think if you died that easily it wouldn't be fun, but keeping the original X-Com theme would be nice.
The XCOM shooter really doesn't look that bad to me

It doesn't have anything in common with xcom at all, that's the problem. I wouldn't mind an xcom shooter where you played as the soldiers if it actually followed XCOM's line.

X-COM Battlefront
XCOM mod for ArmA 2 I think would capture the best of both the strategic and shooter worlds. I used to make scenarios all the time with a squad of marines fighting a few aliens in Duala.
X-COM Battlefront
Holy shit, a XCOM Game done in the style of the Star Wars: Battlefront series could be absolutely amazing.
Same with an XCOM/ArmA blend. Getting to deploy Skyrangers around the map and swapping up between different squads in combat. After a fight, gathering up remaining technology and having to protect the site while recovery vehicles come in to collect resources and such. It could be the greatest thing ever.
Why isn't this being made?

It looks like a fun game, but it's the DmC effect of it has nothing to do with Xcom. The 1960s theme drives me crazy because that's the part that's just "What? That's not when we first saw aliens. These black goos aren't the aliens that landed. This looks nothing like xcom, what does this have to do with xcom? Why if it wasn't for the title card at the end would I have no idea this was supposed to be an xcom game?"
Unlike the DmC effect, we got a mostly faithful xcom game in addition to this shooter, so it's not going to make people as mad and maybe it still has a chance.
While I was playing Enemy Unknown I was wondering how well a tactical shooter in the vein of Brothers in Arms could work.

SWAT: X-COM edition. Just as lethal as SWAT, but you get all those cool tactical options to use against aliens

The XCOM way of easily dying is that they give u enough time to love your squad buddies like a pie then the game take slice after slice until all of them are dead. If they can emulate that in this shooter I am satisfied.
