Alright, I'm going to buy a customized Inspiron 15 soon, but I've run into a hitch. Dell sells them with XP as an option, which is my preference, but only has the integrated graphics as a video card choice when XP is selected. I'm probably going to go ahead and buy it like this and install a video card later, but I want to make sure this will work fine. Here's some basic specs, I'm upgrading most of these but it should all stay the same brand Intel® Pentium® Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache) Bright, glossy widescreen 15.6 WLED display (1366x768) 3GB1 Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz 160GB2 SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD The most intensive thing I'd end up playing on this is a source game, can someone just throw out a few mid-range video cards? What do you suggest?
You can't swap intergrated cards. [editline]10:46PM[/editline] Budget?
You can't upgrade a video card in that machine. Get it with Vista, and when 7 comes out, you'll get a free (or very cheap) upgrade to that.

No.

I chose the downgrade option and the ATI option disappeared
Just get it with Vista.

So why wont you use vista? If you dont like it get windows 7.
Are you on the Vista hate :bandwagon:?
Don't get Vista. Just use the Win 7 RC.
Very rarely can you upgrade the graphics card in a laptop.
Don't get Vista. Just use the Win 7 RC.
Didn't they stop giving out codes? I haven't seen that be suggested here recently. Or is it because it won't last that much longer (till March) I would say just get Vista with a free upgrade to 7
True. I hadn't thought of that. But the Codes are many, and easy to acquire.
Pentium processors are rubbish.
True. I hadn't thought of that. But the Codes are many, and easy to acquire.
Yea how about just wait for the upgrade.
True. I hadn't thought of that. But the Codes are many, and easy to acquire.
I have about 4 in my cabinet  I would say just pick vista, again. I would give one to you, Dragon, but I'm away from home.
