HTC Desire Z sound plays through internal speakers with headphones plugged in

When I plug my headphones in the jack, the headphone icon appears and sound plays through the headphones, but when I take off my headphones, I find that sound still plays through the internal speakers. Anyone know a way to fix this? Or an app that can adjust headphone and speaker volume independently?

Sounds like a bug, it's supposed to disable the internal speaker when earphones are plugged in. Is the software updated?

Well, it's an old model so it's stuck on 2.3.3.

You do it from the recovery menu. To manually get in to recovery turn the phone off, then press and hold volume down and power, this will take you to the bootloader where you can select recovery

It took me a while to figure out what to do when the warning singn appeared. Anyway, I wiped the cache, and it didn't help.

Just a question: I haven't actually tried playing music with the headphones plugged in (I haven't gotten around to putting any music on the SD card yet), I am basing this off that when I press the volume buttons, the ringer sound plays through both the headphones and the internal speakers. Is that supposed to happen, or should I try actually playing music on the thing with headphones?

Also, the headphones I'm using are the KOSS UR-18. I haven't tried it with the earbuds that came with the device, but I don't have those avaible right now.

That's supposed to happen. If you play music or watch a youtube video it'll play through the headphones.

Alright. Thanks for clearing that up. I tested it with a YouTube video, and it played through the headphones, so there were nothing wrong with it to begin with.
