Incorrect. The Kanto starters are given to you by a Professor shortly after you have received your Kalos starter from your friend.
Yeah you get 2 starter pokemon.

Oh hell yes. Between the launch event torchic, this, and the new gen starters, holy crap. That's pretty much 3 pokemon for me right out the gate. I think I'm gonna have fun with this journey. I hope Kalos is bigger on scenery than black and white were. All in all, X and Y is shaping up to be epic. Now if only I could get my hands on a 3DS XL.
do we know [I]when[/I] in the game we'll be given a kanto starter though? because in the previous games it's usually after you've beaten the pokemon league

You're given the first set of starters by a friend. The Poké professor then gives you the Kanto starter.

MegaBlastoise looks like a fuckin' TANK; not only does it look like it could take a beating, but the wristguns combined with the huge back-cannon makes it look like it could level an apartment block.
Also MegaVenusaur doesn't really look all that different to me.

there was a rumor a while back that said all of the starters would get a mega evolution.

the 3D models still look godawful and almost close to Pokemon Stadium but I guess you can't make a character that's normally 2D and flat-coloured much better in 3D anyway
It makes me sad that I won't be able to get this one because of the change in console. I don't want to buy a 3DS for 1-2 games that I have interest in.
