Sounds kind of interesting, although I feel like the survival aspect will be only a minor thing and it's all about killing tons of zombies. Also some random world generation would be cool.
lol look yet another game that's about
A. Zombies
and
B. survival
we've totally not seen a rise in "Quick cash" Zombie games recently.
I don't got a problem with zombie games so long as they got a good survival system. The repeating problem with these games is that they say they have survival and yet in the finished game its some super minor aspect of it or not even there at all.
Everyone talking how sick they are from all the zombie games, while so far not a single one didn't reach 'god tier' and most of them are crap, few ones are good - 'Cataclysm - Dark days ahead' and 'DayZ but thats more a deathmatch with zombies, but the concept is right'
I still wait for a good zombie game to come out, as its my favorite theme.
Yeah. I'm still waiting for that hardcore survival zombie game. Kinda like what DayZ used to be, but you're right. Nowadays it's more DM with zombies rather than actual survival and what not. I remember the good ol' times when people would actually work together and what not. :(
can we please get some more apocalypses than 'zombie' and 'nuclear'
i want a survival game set in a robot apocalypse
like ive said before its the new trend in games
back then it used to be making modern warfares/brown people shooter simulator, just after a trend of making countless ww2 stuff
And now it's both.

Well Project Zomboid is quite good and will be phenomenal once multiplayer is fully released
I preordered The Dead Linger like 9 months ago and it has seen some really nice progress. I'm hoping that it turns out good.
a zombie game that is about killing zombies
When did anyone ever think this stuff was funny/clever?

Id' have done a multidimensional apocalypses
inter-dimensional beings from another realm invade and create robots and zombies, also, mind control humans with devices (you can shoot the device off but at great risk of kill them, so they can help you)
or a mass fungal infection that reanimates and mutates literally everything in a very "Metro last light" style, only it creates a sentient race of insane sociopathic mushroom men
bam, billion times more creative than "Lol zombies!!!!"
just because the walking dead and left 4 dead and dead rising and dead space are great, doesn't mean you should copy them

B-but. Surely if I make special mutant zombies with craaaazy effects like a fat guy that pukes, my game would be interesting?

l4d is very simple and easy to understand, and really works great as coop, and that's why it works. it's not "fancy effects"
most zombie games do'nt work because they don't utilize enough fun gameplay to boot and use a hyper overused gimmick but they don't even know how to use it right. If you're going to do zombies, at least be actually smart about how you do it.
L4D on the other hand actually tries to be much more than "just another zombie game" especially since they actually have more than just 3 types of "Slow medium and fast" zombies
I wasn't taking a jab at L4D ( I really love L4D), I was taking a jab at the other ones. Mostly Dead Island and 7 Days to Die. Obviously because L4D's success came from the pathetically fat puking zombie, every other game HAS to have one.
Who needs to think of new ideas when you can just recycle old ones from other games.
EDIT: What a surprise. Looking back at the article, and guess what I found!

But 7D2D is really good.

I couldn't get over the fact that they decided to use blocky hills a la Minecraft, when they have the tech for sloped voxel geometry (the roofs of the houses).
Really, I love the zombie survival genre to death, but because of that, I am a stick in the mud for anything and everything bad I can find. It literally ruins the game for me that I have to spam space to climb a hill when I know they could just make it sloped.
I both love DayZ for how brutal it is, yet loathe it because of how fucking stupidly fast the zombies are. But at least DayZ doesn't have Tubbs the zombie in it.
so many games just rush and dont take their fucking time, they also can't think of any creative special zombies besides one thats fat and pukes
there is nothing special about the survival.
I just wish someone would make a game based on Max Brooks' zombie lore.
That would be tough as shit considering how hard-ass zombies are in the Brooks lore.

Especially when the "survival" isn't even about survival.
I want a Zombie Survival game with a Survivorman feel. A zombie apocalypse with Les Stroud at the wheel.

that's my hope for any upcoming zombie game, challenging zombies and environments that put a depressing feel on you.
However I want challenging zombies, not dayz where the shooting mechanics are shit and they zig zag to avoid you.
make a game with
1. shit to do
2. challenging zombies
I'll fucking buy it.
