My Caviar Black 1tb came in a box that looked like it had been ran over and thrown off a bridge a few times. I'm worried that it's not working to its full potential and afraid that it may be failing. Since I reinstalled Vista on the new drive, I have been getting many blue screens and tons of lock ups. By lock ups I mean explorer and other programs randomly freeze and seem to crash, but come back to life after about 30 seconds. On start up the drive sounds like someone is beating it with a hammer.
I ran the benchmark on HD tune in safemode and this is what I got:

Should I send the drive back just to be on the safe side?
I would of sent it back right when I saw the crap box, but yea. Send that sucka in.
If you have to ask if somethings failing it probably is.

The only sounds your hard drive should make are regular seek sounds (a faint click/rumble noise) or the noise of it vibrating against the case.
Banging or tinging is bad.
