Yesterday my uncle gave me his old laptop that he spilled coffee on causing it not to be able to turn on. When I press the power button nothing happens at all, no sounds, nothing. The only response is when I unplug the power cord the speakers crackle a bit.
Is there a way I can fix it myself or is it a lost cause?
Coffee is like soda and eats away at traces. If the chipset has not been shorted out, your main issue will be a dead keyboard.
Figured as much. I guess its garbage, except for the hard drive I guess.
I hope you had dried it then let it sit then turn it on immediately. If not then you're laptop is dead.

My uncle thought i could take it apart, fix and use it myself, or use it for parts. Ever since i built my computer he has been dumping old broken electronics on me thinking i can fix them or use it to make my computer better.
