Classically old question, but times change! My pirating days are long behind me, and I'm willing to spend the 250-350/year for Photoshop + Premiere Pro... but I'd rather not if this futuristic age of ours has brought some lovely free alternatives. Googling leads me to a few interesting pieces of truly free software, but most of them are way too simplistic. I'm no professional, but I still want audio/video tracks and video/audio fading with custom key frames. I'm sure this will be da bomb when it enters open beta, but until then I just don't know what's good out there.
I use Hitfilm Express 3 and WMM.
Git gud and use blender like a baller
I use Sony Vegas Pro 12/13. Works great and is easy to use once you get past all the crashes. :v:
I use Premiere mainly because of it being what we used in media classes in high school, therefore it is the one I'm most familiar with. Kinda stuck with me afterwards. Before that I used Sony Vegas though, which seems like it's been millennias ago...
Videopad Haven't tried vegas pro yet
Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12/13. Though, I haven't made a proper video in almost two years now.
Premiere. Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Student edition if you qualify) is actually a steal... Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects...
Premiere. Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Student edition if you qualify) is actually a steal... Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects...
Not so great to be on an annual contract that's 240$ the first year and 360$ after, if you only want one program from them. [editline]29th October 2016[/editline]
I use Hitfilm Express 3 and WMM.
I looked into Hitfilm. It appears to truly be free, somehow, and comes with everything I wanted. They sell DLC features but the free version doesn't seem like it has any really harmful restrictions. Is there a catch I don't know about, maybe in exporting? Something horrendous like a low max video size for export? Does it stop working if they just tell it to over the net? Anyway, thanks! But why WMM too?
nothing really compares to premiere tbh though if you're looking for a good free color corrector look into Davinci, it's free
A flatbed
nothing really compares to premiere tbh though if you're looking for a good free color corrector look into Davinci, it's free
so far this Hitfilm program does compare to premiere, but premiere is definitely a lot better
Sony Vegas 13, crashes a lot and takes ages to open when I click the icon on the taskbar by accident but other than that, it's ace.
A sharp razor, glue and splice tape.
Sony Vegas. Very useful and good provided you don't add in 15 different video tracks and crash everything like I do.
Thanks for the inputs, but I was specifically asking for free software. I'm using Hitfilm now.
Thanks for the inputs, but I was specifically asking for free software. I'm using Hitfilm now.
OH, well in that case you're screwed.
Thanks for the inputs, but I was specifically asking for free software.
Oh sorry, I thought you were cool
Sony Vegas 9. It's a little old, but it works for all my purposes and can render in HD. As for free things? I would strongly advise against it, but I used to use Windows Movie Maker back before I obtained Vegas.
Premier Pro. It's what I learned to use and have easy access to
Premier Pro. It's what I learned to use and have easy access to
On the topic of Premier Pro, I think Adobe still has the EOL validation key up for Premiere Pro 2 on their website. It's really, really old but it's better than nothing.
