monte grappa is great but it usually turns into a huge standoff at B or D
I've been a fan of St Quentins Scar since the alpha. The layout is well balanced and it feels the most like a genuine WW1 map should feel.
"Monte Grappa" more like Monte Sniper
Actually, it's not as bad as some maps (Empire's Edge jesus christ) and you take cover but man do you hear sniper shots every second.
Worst map imo is ballroom blitz.
Monte is a clusterfuck on operations around the two bunkers as they're impossible to clear out if the defending team are competent.
Fuck Suez. Too small, not enough flags, always a blowout game
I have Operation Lockdown and Metro Flashbacks whenever I get to the bunkers on this map.

The desert and forest maps are my absolute least favorite. Every other map is alright with me.
As some one who loves flying bombers, the AA on Monte Grappa is infuriating.
I think the reason some of the maps suck is for how variable the teams and their loadouts can be - for example, the forest and suez /can/ be fun, but not when every team has mortars up their arses. Mortars either need to be redone (indirect, reliable and deadly weapons aren't really fun for whoever's receiving the shells), or maps need to have additional areas where mortars aren't an issue - underground areas and such.
AA needs to be looked at as well - I know the planes are flying canvases, I know AA's are deadly as fuck, but once someone sits on an AA gun, air might as well not exist. Then again, on the fao's fortress, I was a gunner for pilots who were perfectly capable of avoiding fortress' AA by going low, and then emerging and fucking their shit up.

You do bring up a good point with the placements of AA guns and pilots being able to deal with them. On most maps I can successfully sneak up on a number of AA placements, but Monte Grappa, the one on the highest peak is very hard to sneak up on even going in low. and if you managed to sneak up on em' most of the people on the ground (since it's so contested) light you up before you even get to the AA. all the other AA points are in low parts of the map, making it hard to sneak up on them unless you go around the mountain.
Monte Grappa is way too linear and a sniper fest to be considered the best.
The best is most definitely St. Quentin Scar since it has a perfect balance of close quarters and wide open space mixed in with the hilly terrain.
Suez is a guilty pleasure map that's fun as hell if you're on the winning team.
