• Looking for a new gpu around the £200 - £250 mark. (For BF3, Skyrim, you know the deal)

As the title reads I have built a new powerfull PC but lacking a modern GPU. I have been looking into cards for my PC, as I want something that will run Skyrim and BF3 at a high standard. (I know it is a guess as to what will be needed for Skyrim) Currently I have been looking at the GTX 570 and Radeon HD 6950. Although I have been out the loop for a while so I do not know if any other GPU's are being released for soon, or there will be a price drop etc. Anyway yea, I will take any advice. Thanks.
GTX 570 is in my opinion the best for your money, I have it and it is really great. I see no point of buying one higher then 570 as it is much more expensive with very little improvement.
I have a 6950 HD and so far its handling everything I throw at it, I dont expect skyrim or BF3 to be a problem. But really the 570 is the better card but is it worth the extra money? according to this benchmark comparison http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/293?vs=306 the cards are both pretty close with the 570 beating out the 6950 in some games and areas. if you can justify yourself spending the extra money go for it, if not grab the 6950.
I would also recommend the 6950, I got one for about 200 GBP and it can max anything I throw at it, including Stalker call of Pripyat and other dx11 games, also Crysis. Here you go, 186 pounds with about 4-6 pounds next day postage if you order before 5pm, I generally find aria too be the cheapest on-line computer hardware seller. GTX 570. GO.
Thanks for the comments so far guys. Really happy with the responces! Would like to know however is it worth investing in this card now, are there any coming soon and will it last me a couple years? Again I have been out of the loop for a while due to work so excuse my lack of information.
I could be wrong but the next series of Radeon hd cards may come out sometime in November if you can wait that long, while the next series of Nividia cards have been pushed back to around early 2012.
GTX 570, its just awesome.
GTX 570, its just awesome.
Looking more towards the GTX 570 now. Will the new Nvidia cards be out anytime soon however? Even then they probably will be muchos expensive.
Not before the new games come out. And yes the GTX 570 is what you want.
Not before the new games come out. And yes the GTX 570 is what you want.
I have been watching benchmarks and it looks like the GTX 480 is on par if not better in some cases. Why is this? It is cheaper also obviously.
I'm fairly sure the 480 is out of production, you might be able to find a refurbished/re-certified or second hand one for cheaper than a 570 though. And the 480 generates more heat, takes more power and doesn't SLI as well, not to mention finding a second in the future for a reasonable price..
