So I'm ready to buy my PC in a few days. My budget is $540 at the absolute max. How does this look?

I know the CPU is out of stock, but I'm hoping it'll come back in stock before Thursday. But any recommendations for that would be nice as well.
In my opinion, you should get a better case and a PSU, and a motherboard that can take 2 GPUs, even if that means getting a worse GPU.
How comfortable are you with mail-in rebates? Because I just made a build with the Athlon II x4 / GTX 460 capable of SLI for $578, but comes with $55 worth of rebates.
I agree with Jaehead, you should reconsider your case and PSU. If you need a place to lower the price, you could always get a Phenom II x2 (or x3), which gives you a chance of having a 4 core Phenom.
What is it going to be used for?

Don't worry about the motherboard. The one you got is just fine.

Is it possible for me to see that build you're talking about?
Don't get an Athlon II X4 640, if there's other available.
Actually, I had another go at this today and I've reduced it to $546 with BTEKHHJ32, and it still comes with $55 worth of rebates

also why would you not get an Athlon II x4 640? It's pretty much perfect for his budget

Also if you're going to tell me that I went overkill on the PSU it costs the same as the 650W version so why not

Seems like they discontinued the 630. Oh well, I didn't check. "Other available" should have been "A 630 available".
Dude the Athlon II x4 640 is great price:performance.
I decided to just stick with my current build except I replaced the CPU with this.

are you sure? I really don't like the case and you won't be able to throw in a second GPU later on
[editline]23rd February 2011[/editline]
also f3

I really don't think I'll ever use 2 GPUs, and if you can find a better case for the exact same price then feel free. I can't go over at all though.
If you get a cheap case I promise you that you'll regret it

I kind of have to. I want all those parts and I'm already over-budget as it is.
So how much are you paying for your build now? $550?

Yes, my budget was $540 to begin with and I really really cannot afford to go over-budget any more.
How about this
with promo codes PSU11FEB and EMCKHHH44 it's $528 grand total.
You get 2 PCI-E slots, a better case, better HDD, USB3, SATA 6 (if you want a SSD later on), and a nice, cheap PSU to back it up

Yeah this. If you want to, i'd say go with the 1 TB spinpoint F3. Twice the space for only 15 bucks more.
Also, the Rosewill destroyer's rear exhaust fan is a little loud. I don't mind it myself though.
