Has Warhammer literally been anything else since it came out? It's $40 for a box of 10 Space Marines that you need to clean, assemble and paint yourself. Warhammer ain't cheap yo.

The company doing this has not made a single good game and they've been in business since 1987.
Avoid this game at all cost.

GW took the 40k rights away from Relic for this?
Fuck's sake, Dawn of War is probably the reason why maybe a solid quarter of people got into 40k.

Including myself. It's so hilariously easy to make a good game with the Warhammer IP because it's basically a universe about neverending war with so many interesting characters and different factions but nooo lets give the IP to shitlords that have created nothing but shit.
What's so hard about making a massive scale RTS with current tech and base building? I just can't believe that such a high amount of people are this blind. Battle for Middleearth, Empire at War, Command and Conquer (guess which one In talking about hint its not the most recent installment LOL) were all amazing games and I still play them. The RTS moved away from base building completely and focuses on tacticool small scale battles. Why not merge them and create an amazing game again for once?

I still have dreams of a Red Orchestra styled game where you play as Imperial Guardsmen.
One day...

Sitting in trenches as the filthy xeno scum push forward while the nearby Commissar shoots at you for not tossing your body into the enemies' weaponry in hopes of jamming it.

2 gigs of ram? That can't be right. According to that page, the game itself is smaller than that.

I'm guessing it's to account for the additional memory that the operating system and other background programs take up? Been the case for most games forever.
... Unless it loads basically the whole game onto the RAM and reads everything from there, then wtf

Will my space marines fall through the floor constantly?
Oh well, at least we have that first person Warhammer 40k game by Streum to look forward to.

Having to make and paint them yourself isn't a bad thing, it's a hobby. The prices have gone up quite a lot in the past few years but it's not much more expensive than most hobbies, really. You'll likely get a few hours of entertainment making & painting them, and then can be used for years to play TableTop, provided you have enough of them. I'm not defending the prices but i don't think they are quite as bad as people make it out to be. Games Workshop does love increasing prices, though.
It's a little annoying how they only make small games like this now, other than Eternal Crusade there isn't any large W40K video game being made that we know of. Even that is being made by a Dev who isn't too well known.
Seems like a neat mobile game but for pc, it's far to shallow. Those are usually just timewasters for a fair couple of minutes. Also I don't get why they had to use the WH40k licence.

I get that, I used to play Warhammer, but it's also the reason why I stopped. That $40 doesn't get you an 'nth of an army. It was the most expensive hobby I had and I didn't even paint stuff because I didn't wanna ruin anything that I took the time to put together so very carefully.
I was hoping that we'd hear something about what Creative Assembly or Sega is doing now that they can supposedly make W40K games, it's disappointing seeing that most of the new W40K games being made are like this, when there is so much potential for better things. It's like GW just agrees to any game as long as it's cheap and easy to make, they don't care about who does it or the quality. All the recent games are from devs who don't have too good a reputation or games that don't make a good use of the IP.

I haven't read the latest rule book but you used to be able to play the game with a minimum of 2 troop choices and 1 HQ choice, which is about £60. Dark Vengeance comes with everything you need to play and that is only about £60. Standard games are 1000-2000 points though, so you'd need to spend more if you want bigger games. The prices are a bit higher than they should be as GW loves to increase prices each year, but it's not even that much more expensive than just 1/35 scale models (which is a similar scale to W40K vehicles), a 1/35 scale tank would cost about £15-30 depending on what it is.
Paint can be removed as well, even on the plastic models. Many of the things i painted about 10 years ago look pretty bad, but it was easy to get the paint off without damaging anything. You don't have to put a huge amount of time or effort in to get them looking alright, all that matters if you have a reasonably nice looking army that you put a bit of effort in, instead of just leaving it all unpainted. I still haven't painted any of what i have, though.
