So I got my new 2500k and P8Z68-v LX today, unfortunately it doesn't display anything on the screen. The MemOK led is also constantly lit and pressing the button causes it the flash for about a minute before staying on again. I've tried the single Gskill Ripjaws 4gb dimm in all 4 slots to no avail, and connecting a graphics card still resulted in now video output. All of the solutions I found on google just tell people to press the MemOK button or clear the CMOS, neither of which worked for me though. The PSU, CPU and, when connected, GPU fans all spin and I've tested another power supply. Please help!
Do they spin constantly?
Do they spin constantly?
Well after about 10 seconds the whole pc reboots, then they spin until I turn it off.
Try the least hardware you can run it with. Means: motherboard + 1 RAM module + PSU + Monitor + keyboard no harddrives, optical drives and no gpu, use one of the onboard video output ports Also, got a motherboard speaker you could use for beep codes for error determination?
I have exactly that connected currently, and I only get beep codes when I remove the RAM entirely
Got any other RAM module to test?
I could only afford one 4gb stick, planned to buy another at a later date :(
You sure you haven't forgotten to connect any cables like the CPU 4/8pin one? I guess you put those motherboard standoffs before screwing your motherboard to the case?
The standoffs are in and the 8pin is definitely connected, I've tested 2 PSUs and both produce the same results
You sure you haven't forgotten to connect any cables like the CPU 4/8pin one? I guess you put those motherboard standoffs before screwing your motherboard to the case?
That 4/8 pin socket makes me swear.. a lot. Especially on small cases.
I've just put my graphics card in and connected the monitor to that, still no output and the led is still on.
You would be better off taking the GPU out and connecting your monitor straight to the mobo, the less connected the easier it is to isolate the problem.
I've tried both, sorry if I was a little unclear there
Take everything out, put your motherboard on cardboard or something and try from there?
I will try that, I assume the motherboard box is fine to use?
I will try that, I assume the motherboard box is fine to use?
Just don't set it on an anti-static bag - stupidest thing I've ever done
Duly noted :) [editline]30th November 2011[/editline] Motherboard is on a box now with nothing connected but the 24-pin and 8-pin and the single stick of ddr3. Red light still on :( [editline]30th November 2011[/editline] Called Ebuyer and a courier will come tomorrow to pick everything up Just my luck.
I bet it's just the RAM the motherboard's having beaf with.
It sucks that I paid £10 for 1-day shipping just to have to wait another 4-6 days for it to be sorted out
Something's wrong with the CPU setup. Either it's forced in the wrong orientation or it's not getting power.
Well the CPU is like this http://puu.sh/9DFP is it not? I can't remember off the top of my head but that is the right orientation assuming the IO shield would be on the left of that image
You said you only have one stick of RAM? Your board is dual channel perhaps?
Your board is dual channel perhaps?
lol, hehehe, hahahah. It's so funny so I forgot what I was suppose to reply with. But anyway, it doesn't work that way.
Only bought one stick so I could get another when I had more money instead of skimping on my psu or motherboard, I do wish I had another to test though.
Only bought one stick so I could get another when I had more money instead of skimping on my psu or motherboard, I do wish I had another to test though.
2x2 is usually the same price as 1x4..
But 1x4 allows for more upgrading in the future (In my opinion, anyway).
2x2 is usually the same price as 1x4..
Seeing as this is my first CPU/Motherboard upgrade since 2007, I went for the option that let me add more later on. I guess I just got unlucky with this choice though

I've got the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro which should be very similar to your board and I use 2 of these Corsair dimms in my rig without any problems: CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 4gb per DIMM
Ebuyer's courier is coming tomorrow to take the parts back for testing to see which is faulty
But 1x4 allows for more upgrading in the future (In my opinion, anyway).
2x2 is faster as a 2GB stick has less latency than a 4GB stick.
