So yeah, my computer is has aged rapidly, and digging its own grave. Scratch that, it almost jumped in yesterday. Specs: AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.0ghz single core (woop) ATI Radeon HD3850 2gb of ram 320gb HDD. You see where I'm going with this. I hope you can get a mid-range or close to high-range PC for 700 euros, which is the budget I was given. No preferences, throw in a new mouse if you can, and suggest a case, even though I'd want to pick one myself. Also I should probably wait out Sandy Bridge, shouldn't I? But since I'm ordering in March probably, you could throw the build together and add the sand later. And also should ship to Estonia.
Yeah wait for Sandy. And it wouldn't be good to add Sandy later since prices for the other components will change or become out of stock/other parts in stock. Just wait for Sandy Bridge. Also do you have an OS (if so what), a monitor (resolution please), and are you going to reuse anything (HDD if it's not too slow or optical drive). Bump this thread in March
Windows 7, a HP w20, 1680 x 1050, HDD will probably get a new one. Re-Bumping in March.
They sell faulty stuff still. In Estonia atleast. On some shops. Look from Hinnavaatlus.ee, choose a site and done
Oh lovely, still not sure if to buy a faulty one though.
Afaik with the faulty ones SATA Ports 3 - 5 die out after time. This could mean if you have a optical drive and a harddrive that just use 1 and 2, you could get one very cheap.
Perfect, :q: [editline]10th February 2011[/editline] I could cut out the HDD and re-use my 320gb, and then squeeze in a 6950 instead of a 6850. This is just from one site, if I order from different sites I can get things a tad cheaper, but thoughts on the build? Not too sure about that ram.
What is this site? I would like to know when I make mine. Is it this : http://www.arvutikeskus.ee/est/TOOTEKATALOOG/ARVUTIKOMPONENDID CPU-s are the first default window. Emaplaadid - Motherboards Kõvakettad - Hard Disk Drive Graafikakaardid - GPU Mälud lauaarvutile - RAM for Desktop computers Korpused - Case Toiteplokid - PSU Jahutus - Cooling Helikaardid - Sound cards For people who want to improve his build. Also, I think you could get a better price somewhere on some parts. And that RAM is okay.
Yeah, it's that. I'll look around for some other sites, copy paste cheaper parts here since bad memory.

Gigabyte has no UEFI. UEFI is BIOS menu where you can use mouse. Or something like that. And you chose laptop memory, if I am right. I saw that you don't have an OS. Do you have one? Or do you need to buy one? pff. Ma lihtsalt kirjutan Eesti keeles, kergem. See on X5, töötab, on odav jne. Madalam DPI kui X7-mel kuid on ka odavam. Hiir on pealt sile, seega kui peale mängimist käsi higine on, libiseb hiir ära. http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/Hiired/124172/ See on X7, töötab hästi, on suht odav. Suhteliselt kõrge DPI ja sellega on kaasas head conf-i muutmise asjad. Saad muuta mida deep nupp 4, nupp 5 jne. Pinnas on kare. http://www.hinnavaatlus.ee/products/Arvutiriistvara/Hiired/121521/ Sõbral on X5, talle meeldib. Ma olen enda X7-ga harjunud, seega tema hiire sile pinnas vahel segab. Mõlemal on olnud see hiir üle aasta. Mõlemal töötab korralikult, kuigi minul on peale kordavaid kukkumisi DPI nupp veitsa paigast ära ja ei taha vahepeal korralikult töötada. Panin Hinnavaatluse lingid, et saaksid ise valida kust osta.
My dad suggested a prebuilt today, since he would have to pay it in chunks per month. My heart shattered.
Dangit. Tell him building is way cheaper. Järelmaksuga juppe ei saa osta?
Vaatasin kui samalt leheküljelt tellid, siis saaks küll, näitan talle kui koju jõuab. Hope it works for now, and it's even cheaper than the prebuilt he suggested, which is hilarious as it's a sandy bridge build with a ATI HD6950
This seems like a rather fancy build, IMO. Chose the best parts I could find.
RAM doesn't work, or only in Single Channel. Single channel RAM is slow. If you want more ram, buy 2x4GB.
I'll change the mobo from mini-atx (didn't notice, herp) and the PSU to modular later.
RAM doesn't work, or only in Single Channel. Single channel RAM is slow. If you want more ram, buy 2x4GB.
Real world performance difference between single and dual channel is negligible at best. Two 4gb sticks hurts the budget and a second stick can be acquired later, it's more relevant to focus spending on the stuff that must be replaced in order to upgrade (cpu, psu, mobo etc.) as opposed to the stuff that can be added on later to upgrade (ram, storage devices).
Oh. I was told that single and dual channel is with very different speeds. Weird.
Oh. I was told that single and dual channel is with very different speeds. Weird.
Well there is a speed difference it's just that the advantage in speed of buying 2x2gb is inferior to the advantage of getting one 4gb stick for the ability to expand and make ramdisks. 6GB/s> read/write speeds are totally worth it. Plus the vengeance sticks overclock well.
