• Best Printer for University?

I need a printer with relatively high ppm, low-ink costs, low ink usage, decent quality (but doesn't have to be photo quality, seeing as I will never print a photo from it). Anything like wireless is great. Fax, scanner, copier are good bonuses. I just need a good printer for no more than $100. EDIT: Need to print in color
You'd be best off with a laser printer. I got one for £3 on ebay with toner. Has lasted me 2 years so far and still going great!

Old Laser printers, like my trusty HP LaserJet 4P just work once you plug them into a parallel port / parallel to USB port. The drivers are simple and they print every time. Give them toner, paper with words comes out the other end. They're usually heavy, so check craigslist / Kijiji / local stores for them first.
Are there any particular models I should be looking at? Preferably newer ones since they are a bit better on ink and energy efficiency + bonuses and perhaps size. [editline]09:59PM[/editline] forgot to mention I need to print in color
See what's available in the stores and then compare ink prices and user reviews.
I bought a Brother H-2142 for uni. - $100AUD new in store, probably get it cheaper - Laser - Simple drivers (AVOID HP their drivers are absolute rubbish bloatware) - No colour - No networking That's about all you really need for a uni dorm-room, churns out them lecture notes like a motherbitch. Edit: Just read you need colour, I'm pretty sure the model up in this series does colour and isn't much more expensive.
Kodak printers have the cheapest ink for inkjet printers if you need color. Color toner is pretty expensive, our IT guy bought a color printer for us at work (We don't need color at all) and it's almost $100 for each color so a new set of toner is ~$350. Of course other brands may be more reasonable.
I just went to walmart and bought the cheapest printer they have. HP Deskjet d1660. And a cartridge of black ink is $15. Lowest priced ink they had. The drivers aren't great though, and setting up wireless printing from a mac, to the printer on the pc is a female dog.
Whatever you do, don't get a Xerox Phaser 6110. It's the cheapest they have to offer (if you're even able to buy one) and it's good and all that, except it tends to break pretty often.
