All it took was a simple google.
New Question:
Ipod goes to a blank screen, (recovery mode) but redsn0w doesn't find it
Any help?
If it's an iPhone 3Gs that you purchased recently, or has never been jailbroken before and is now running 3.1.3 then you can't jailbreak it at the moment.
New boot rom prevents exploit that most jailbreakers(if not all) use.

He mentioned it was a 1G iPod Touch already. You're also totally wrong. You can jailbreak an iPhone 3Gs. Just downgrade the software. It'll be tethered though.

Ugh, my bad. And afaik you can't downgrade any more either, Apple removed the signatures needed when installing a backup from older firmware.

You just restore with an older ispw file..
Why the fuck would you wanna use Redsn0w for a 1G iPod Touch? Just use blackra1n, it's a one button jailbreak.

I don't think Blackra1n supports 3.1.3 software.
Geohot said he won't support it to teach the people who updated to not just update and wait for news.

He sounds like a prick.

He does a bit :v: But when you think of what happened when Jailbreaking became popular can you blame him? As soon as it hit the public eye all the "omg it dun wurk" idiots showed up. Hopefully Dev Team will release some kind of workaround, but right now 3.1.3 is pretty damn hard to figure out.

When restoring with an old ispw file it checks a signature server, if the signature doesn't exist iTunes wont allow you to restore from that file. And Apple recentlyish removed the old signatures.
I have tried downloading several ispw files with older firmware, none of them work. I've even tried spoofing the signature server without any luck as well.

I've did it recently. It works. You're doing it wrong.
I download an old firmware .ispw(I have tried 3.1.2, 3.0.1 and 3.0, with and without spoofing) file, boot my iPhone(3Gs, new boot rom) into restore mode(screen is black), iTunes recognizes it, I shift+click on the restore button to chose the file to restore from and select my ispw file, error pops up saying something about something not being supported any more.
Please do enlighten me if I am doing this wrong, I'd love to see my iPhone jailbroken.
