Hello, I'm trying to make a set up where I have a 16:9 monitor as a main and a 4:3 to the right and another monitor or oldish TV (hmdi) duplicating the second monitor. However the Catalyst control center does not allow me to have all 3 operating. The TV is grayed out in windows and does not show up as working in the control center, and does not show up at all in eyefinty.
I've come to the conclusion that I could possibly use a third monitor instead of the tv, problem is I only have 2 dvi ports and a HMDI port on my AMD Radeon 6950. Right now i currently have the main monitor coming out as DVI and the second one as a VGA on a DVI -> VGA adapter with no problems.
Will it work if i use a VGA - Y Splitter on the DVI-VGA adapter and plug the second monitor into that, and the third on the other plug, but with an extension cable?
like so:

Your diagram should work, but you may run into problems if the splitter passes all DB-15 pins to both end ports. If both displays support EDID, they'll both be sending that back to the GPU and possibly cause problems. Another problem is if you don't have a decently shielded VGA cable, the image may be noisy.
