Whats opendns used for?
DNS Servers. A website address has to be sent to a DNS server where the IP address (the actual address of the website on the internet, textual address are simply for ease of use) of the website can be found, and the data transferred back to the user. If you reduce the time the server spends searching for the IP, the faster you access the website. OpenDNS is supposed to have some of the best DNS servers.
Strange, I haven't had problems at all.
Yea, my speed and stability is top notch with OpenDNS.
Media'd for excessively large image.
You know, they make photo editors with cropping ability for a reason. :v:
It's getting really annoying when people media tag like 500x500 images, 1280x1024 is fucking small too. Get a new monitor.
You know, they make photo editors with cropping ability for a reason. :v:
And I don't have those, because I'm too lazy to install them, and rarely need them. Anything larger than 1680 x 1050 makes me rage. also it's not all about size. Contrast ratio, pixel pitch, and response time are important too, and I've got those.

I didn't go off, and that's not totally irrelevant.

No, I couldn't care less if other people are using it. I just can't get anything done on it.

Don't use OpenDNS.
It's troubling how many people will blindly recommend OpenDNS without understanding the huge problems with that service. Stay far, far away from OpenDNS - that is, unless you just don't care that they redirect all your Google queries through their own servers. Or that they break with acceptable DNS behavior by sending you to their own advertising web server, rather than return a NXDOMAIN response, when a name cannot be resolved. (Good luck filtering spam with a DNSRBL if you're using OpenDNS.) Use Level3's anycast DNS servers instead: 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, ..., 4.2.2.6. They're faster than OpenDNS and they don't pull any of that nonsense on their users.
I loved the firefox address bar I'm feeling lucky thing, it was nice to have it back when I switched away from opendns.
