Isn't that what they said for DR2? There's another game that had the same promise but I can't remember what game it was.
That's impossible
Well, at least we can hope it's true.
That's nice and all, but it really doesn't add a whole lot to the immersion in my opinion. You'll be seeing so many countless zombies that the slight differences really won't matter much in the grand scheme of things.
even if it's true, it's still gonna be shit if they don't focus on the gameplay instead of stupid details to make things ~advanced~ and ~wow so next gen~
Someone somewhere will see the same zombie twice
I don't see the point.
Honestly, they already made a big mistake here, focusing more on visuals instead of getting the gameplay down first.

But chances are the people working on gameplay are not the ones working on trivial things like skin varieties. It's not like the entire team is focusing on one thing at a time.
if im gonna cut through zombies left and right i dont think i care how they look individually
I got dead rising 2 for free with xbox gold and it wasnt really my cup of tea. DR3 looks better imo only b ecause its not in a mall.

True, but they sure as hell emphasized it as if that was their primary focus, I didn't see anything that talked about story line or gameplay mechanics.

honestly, i disagree. it was one of the things that drew me a little bit away from the first dead risings as well as from the walking dead. obvi all were amazing, but there were numerous times in each where i was like "oh hey i remember chopping you in half a few seconds ago"
That's impossible
yeah, technically, sure, but it's extremely improbable
honestly, i disagree. it was one of the things that drew me a little bit away from the first dead risings as well as from the walking dead. obvi all were amazing, but there were numerous times in each where i was like "oh hey i remember chopping you in half a few seconds ago"
On the flip side, I can get so immersed in the game, I don't pay attention to the details of the zombie. The only thing that runs through my mind at the sight of the zombie is to smash it's brains out. Left 4 Dead is a good example, most people get so focused on chopping/shooting through a large group of zombies, that details start to matter less and less because the only thing that goes through their mind is killing the zombie or completing their objectives.

Dead Rising 2 wasn't in a mall? More a las vegas type thing
Dead Rising was in a mall, and it was like that because it was following Dawn of the Dead

It'll still feel the same I bet.
They'll have something where it'll randomize the damaged flesh with a texture on the zombie or something and that'll be the extent to "never see the same zombie twice". There will still be the same models, same hair, same clothes etc which will keep them looking mostly the same. Sure you'll get the odd case of a missing eye and jaw but eventually they'll just look like an additional face model.
Someone somewhere will see the same zombie twice
20 pants * 20 shirts * 20 faces * 20 hairs * 5 colors = 800,000 possibilities. (numbers made up by me)
I've killed 25,000 infected in 50 hours of L4D2.
After playing 50 hours, the chances of you having seen any given zombie before will still only be 3%.
Huge variety is possible with enough unique attributes.
Still needs to be released on PC. I'd rather get to kill zombies on my platform of choice than notice how different they all look.
Honestly, they already made a big mistake here, focusing more on visuals instead of getting the gameplay down first.
Different teams. Don't worry, the people working on stuff like controls and AI are just as incompetent as they were in DR1 and 2.

They'll be taking a page from the fantasy book of creating foes. This one is a green orc and this one is a blue orc. One lives in the jungle and the other lives by the ocean, they're totally different.
Wouldn't it be easier to have like 10 different zombies models but have them in a huge crowd running off of like a hivemind ai or something.

I feel like I am in a 2005 scifi movie where I just pull words out of my ass and make them sound like something
Valve promised that with Left 4 Dead 2.
This reminded me of that Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 shit where each visitor was apparently unique, but it didn't really matter at all, and didn't add or detract from the gameplay.

i think l4d benefitted in that it's super fast paced in a way that dr & twd weren't. most of the time the instense flash of the guns and furious jumping around made me pay less attention to the zombies. but shamblers it's a bit harder to do that with imo
Not on PC, I don't care. Call be biased but I'm not playing this on my console.

According to Valve the numbers were
2-3 head textures with 4 blood patterns each
4-7 head geometry variations
1 body texture with 4 blood patterns
3-8 body geometry variations
Detail from shared texture
8 skin tints and 8 clothing tints from shared 16x256 texture
They claim there's 24,000 possible combinations per model, but the issue is probably that they only use around 6 models on a map, so even though there's a large combination, it's being taken from a smaller pool (if that makes any sense)
Valve promised that with Left 4 Dead 2.
And all Zombies except the Uncommon look the same.
That's impossible
It's not much different than Minecraft's infinite worlds, truth be told.
Edit:
Or Starbound's procedural creature creation. Also, Spore's creature creation (despite users creating the creatures, the parts are still all procedurally stitched together and textured).
