This mod is really, really brilliant. Recommended to everyone.
That was really cool. Enjoyed it a lot.
This mod fucking rules
Probably has the best voice-over I have ever heard in a mod, perhaps even in any game I've ever played.
Yeah, the narrator has a really sexy voice.
This was easily the smartest thing I have ever played.
I keep going through doing as many things differently as possible...
So these are the endings I found up till now: [sp]Following every step the narrator tells you, with the sweet irony at the end[/sp] [sp]Disobeying every suggestion, finding the 'true' end[/sp] [sp]Going down the staircase, turning crazy[/sp] [sp]Getting squashed by a steel panel after a sudden narrator switch[/sp] [sp]Nuclear detonation[/sp] There are 6 so I guess I'm missing one.

The voice-over is excellent and it's a nice idea, but the mapping ruined a lot of it for me. It just looks like someone's first map and lacks any inspiration or detail. It's blocky and very bland. I know the main focus of the mod isn't the detail or mapping, though, so I guess that's alright? I've heard no negative comments (only "this is the best mod ever") about this at all so I feel a bit odd saying this. When I heard that it was worked on for two years I guess I just expected something much longer and detailed. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't find this as impressive as everyone else. It was a nice little mod to play with for a bit (it took me under an hour to get all the endings) but I would not go as far to say much more than it was an enjoyable little mod that lasted me 40 minutes.
But you have to admit, it was really unique and very fun to find the endings and hear the dialogue.
Noclip to the bottom of the map, that's all I'm gonna say
Noclip to the bottom of the map, that's all I'm gonna say
I think that falls under [sp] Disobeying every suggestion, finding the 'true' end [/sp] - or is it something else?
Cakebread, I liked how you depicted Stanley's deaths. I sounds close to the real thing. It was just. "And the place will explode and there will be nothing you can do abo- *quick flash/boom and blackscreen*" Or even.. "Press QUIT while you still can! You can save these poor souls! Just exit the ga-- *SLAM & blackscreen*

Good god the commentors on RPS are fucking retarded
[sp]Disobey him from the very beginning until you get presented with the red and blue doors, and take the red one[/sp]
[sp]do that, but when you get presented with the red/blue doors, go through the blue until it disappears and then go back through the door you came[/sp] also, this game reminds me of satirical text adventure games, like Pick Up The Phone Booth And Aisle where there's a bunch of different endings and all of them are funny/awesome
Love the song for the end of the "Correct" ending. I won't say what it is, but suffice to say it is great.
I played this game right before I saw this thread. Then I saw there were 6 endings, and got them. It's eerie, you know you'll fail, but you have to keep going.

[/sp] And tbh at the second one you mentioned, I waited until the [sp]steel panel was some centimeters away from me,[/sp] pressed escape, and quit. I don't know what I was hoping for.
The mapping somewhat sucks, but everything else couldn't be better.
The mapping somewhat sucks, but everything else couldn't be better.
The mapping adds a quality as to how bland Stanley's life is.
Downloading. :v: [editline]5th August 2011[/editline]
Tbh, at the first one, just seconds before he said [sp]what I "probably" was doing I had done so.[/sp] I was pretty freaked out by [sp]how exact he described my actions, then realized that that was probably what everyone did. Played it earlier today, I loved every bit of it. That is to say, every bit that wasn't actually made with the Source SDK. It was clever, thought-provoking and had a most excellent voice over, but it looked shite, to the extent of lighting errors and other visual glitches appearing throughout the game. I don't think I spotted a single custom model, and not a single custom texture that was more than a number in Arial font. All other textures were stock, low-res, and often misaligned. The trigger volumes that trigger the mologues don't stop previous voice lines, you can glitch through solid walls and some doors rotate straight through the wall. It's by far the ugliest, messiest video game I've played this year and you should definitely give it a go.
[sp]If you disobey him all the time and end up at the hl2 trainstation and go into the black area you get teleported back to the start or something. what then? I walked around a bit but didn't find anything[/sp]
Cakebread is working on a remake with some other mappers to make the game prettier for those that say the mapping sucks (which it does).
