I bought a new 1TB HDD (Seagate Barracuda, 7200rpm, standard hard drive.) Put it into my main PC, works perfectly. Had to send my main PC to the computer hospital as one of the hardware components was having a bit of trouble. Took the hard drive out, and went to go plug it into another PC I own. But when I plug it into this one, it doesn't boot properly. Note: The 1TB does not have any OS on it, I use it as a storage hard drive. Main PC has Windows 7 on a 320GB HD, and second PC has Windows XP on a 160GB HDD. When I put the 1TB into the second, Windows XP on the 160GB HDD does not boot. When I take it out, it does. Any ideas as to what the problem may be? I'm not doing anything different (plug in the power and SATA cable) from the tons of other times I've put in hard drives. It's a simple ordeal but for some reason the second PC isn't booting from the other HDD when the 1TB is plugged in.
Help?
You may have to configure the BIOS to allow the second hard drive.
I agree with: buttsexv2
