Just build a new rig, Secondary HDD not being detected

As the title says folks, What am I not doing right please? It was detected when installing windows 8, but now isn't now that win8 is up and running... thoughts?

Use Windows' build in disk utility to format and mount it.

Does it show up in the BIOS?

go to start > (Type) Create and Format hard disk partitions > right click on your drive that you are trying to find and format it then give it a drive letter e.g, A: / C: / Q:

Could you post me a screenie of the disk utility?
And are your sure it is connected properly? Did you try a diffrent SATA cable?
