• Code 43: 9800 GT

Ok so here's the story... Today I went out and purchased a GTX 460. Or at least I thought I did. After buying this new graphics card (it had GTX 460 written all over it, as well as on the receipt) I proceeded to open it up and to my surprise, the card read it as 9800 GT. The documentation inside of this was also related to the 9800 GT. I thought this was kind of strange. I proceeded to put the card into the computer and turn it on. Computer starts up fine and it recognizes that it's plugged in and says that it successfully installed it. So then I try to download the drivers from the CD that it gave me, however it gave some weird error message saying that it won't allow it to work because one of the drivers are not signed. I didn't think this was a big problem, so I just went to nvidia's website and got the latest driver. After installing the driver I restarted my computer and tried to use the Nvidia Control Panel (had it installed from my last graphics card). "You are not currently using a display attached to the Nvidia GPU." Is what it said to me when I tried to open it up. "Ok, something is wrong..." is what I thought. I opened up the Device Manager and sure enough there was a little yellow exclamation mark next to the 9800 GT. This is the error code it gave me: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43) Not only is this card not the GTX 460 I was expecting, it might also be dead. Any suggestions Facepunch?
Go back to the store you got it from, demand a refund or they replace it with an actual GTX 460
Go back to the store you got it from, demand a refund or they replace it with an actual GTX 460
This is pretty much the only reasonable thing to do.
I shall do that.
I want to know where you got it, that's pretty weird. Was it sealed up - or did you get it somewhere fishy like ebay where the guy proboably put some tiny text lolthisisnta460norefunds
If that happened to me I would be pissed. I would do what Bladerunner1 said and return it to the store.
Oh man there is no way they're going to believe that at the store you're pretty fucked. They're going to just say that you're just trying to return your old broken card instead of the 460 and tell you to leave.

I returned it the next day and they gave me a brand new (it was the last one) GTX 460. Card is installed and works great btw
I dunno if I worked there and someone showed up with a 460 box and there was a 9800 in it I'd call security.
