certainly seems like a facepunch member
wonder who he is?
Rated heart for a follow up and admitting mistakes.
this guy is a fucking moron. IT'S EVERYONE'S FAULT BUT MY OWN NO MATTER WHAT! I DIDN'T DO THE RESEARCH AND EXPECTED EVERYTHING TO GO PERFECTLY FINE SO IT'S EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT!
Pitchfork sheathed.

I am running Spotify on Linux right now, I guess it's probably not very visible but it is available.

Isn't Wubi official now? I haven't heard great things about Ubuntu lately, from what others on FP have said.
I don't use Ubuntu though, I prefer Fedora.
I think it's funny that using Ubuntu in the first place is actually a completely valid mistake.

I think I can guess who posted that first twitter comment
Looks like he took my rage induced Twitter reply serious. While it was very rude, I'm glad he got the point of it.
He used the official advice from Valve (Wubi) and that fucked him over. I think it's perfectly reasonable for him to be a bit cross
No offense but in what sense is the guy dumb.
Wubi is official and is present in the valve guide
The release was not listed as experimental or massively unstable or some other sort
How is someone who is not inherently following linux to know that ubuntu is not the distro to use. I's pretty much the only one with any form of web presence at all.
Sure people that follow linux know that there are better ones out there, but how is a complete laic supposed to know something like that at all.
Seems to be more of a failure on the side of the linux community for being inherently confusing to new members without requiring tons of research.
Not to mention one would assume the community would be trying it's best to educate people, considering they are on the loosing end as upposed to the windows side which is still dominant.

Pretty stupid of you as Wubi is a official method of installation. Maybe you should blame Ubuntu devs and not him? All caps..
You won't catch me switching to Linux, regardless what Valve does. At least not for the foreseeable future.

The entire forum of Ubuntu knows and talks about how Wubi is a piece of shit. This has already been mentioned before, and despite him following "Official" guides, he really should've done some further research.

So it is the devs fault and you were just being obnoxious.

It really shows how hostile the Linux community is. Case in point:

Even the article points this out.
MISTAKE FOUR: I'm a massive idiot
I think this raises the most interesting point of all. I'm the epitome of the average PC gamer, somebody with a modicum of tech savvy, just enough to update drivers, partition a drive, replace a graphics card, install an operating system. But this middling degree of know-how isn't enough to get by with either of the two Linux distros I've tried, not without putting in the time and effort required to learn how it all works. Time and effort that results in me owning a system that, as far as the average PC gamer is concerned, doesn't do anything Windows already does better. A system that in fact does many, many things worse.

So it is the devs fault and you were just being obnoxious.
It's a problem on both sides. The devs for announcing that this is a well enough developed tool that you can install your OS with it, and him for not doing his research on if it was in fact true.
Do you believe everything you're supposed to believe too?
Meh any OS system that requires backwater neckbeard forum delving just to validate a bloody correct install is a bad system OS.
The easiest way to install Linux is to not install Linux
the only winning move is to not play at all.

Did you know that instlling Windows require more knowledge than installing Linux, especially if you've already got a system installed? Otherwise you'll just lose the other system because Windows doesn't give you any options.

See, this is why people like Windows and Mac. Because when they follow a recommended guide from a trusted company, it works!

Except most people don't have another system installed. Windows is usually their primary OS.

compwhizii?
wow again.
I couldn't see where Valve recommends Wubi on their website, and on the sale page they're currently linking to here which only mentions Wubi under "Other ways to install Ubuntu".

It doesn't require any research, the live installer is front and centre on the Ubuntu website.
